THIS DATE IN ENGLISH CIVIL WAR HISTORY

February 5th, 1643 – Queen Henrietta Marie, the wife of Charles I, set sail from Holland with the supplies and a force of professional soldiers she had raised on the Continent to aid the Royalist cause. Some sources value the supplies at nearly 2 million pounds. She arrives in England on the 22nd at Bridlington amid a bombardment by the Parliamentary navy.
