Comment: No, it’s not the Ithaca that Odysseus called home, it’s Ithaca, New York! The school’s teams have been called the Bombers since 1940 and stories about the nickname’s origin are legion so it’s not just cut and dried that it refers to aircraft that drop bombs. Their original nickname was the Cayugas, as in the Native American tribe noted for dropping bombs from hang-gliders like Ator. (I’m kidding! Bad movie buffs will get it.)
