Here we are in Part 3 of my feature on updates regarding those teams I get the most e-mails about. I’m going in alphabetical order so we resume where we left off in Part 2.
MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS – MEN – The men’s team is 5-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. They are an impressive 3-1 on the road as well. Their next game is Dec 30th against NYU. Basketball is not one of the sports Maritime sponsors for women so there is no women’s team to update.
MASS- DARTMOUTH CORSAIRS – MEN – The men’s team sits at 4-5 right now. Their loss to Brandeis was by just two points and to Tufts by three. The men next see action against the Trinity Bantams on Jan 3rd. WOMEN – The women are currently at 3-7 including a double-overtime loss to St Joseph’s (ME). The wins were over Mt Ida, Simmons and Johnson and Wales. The ladies play again on Jan 5th against Westfield State.
MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS – MEN – The men’s team currently has a record of 6-7, but the loss putting them under .500 was to Division 1’s Northwestern State Demons. Their next game is Jan 3rd against Culver-Stockton. WOMEN – The women are struggling at 3-9 right now but one loss was to an upper division team, Missouri S&T. The wins came against McKendree, Stephens and Central Methodist. They play again Dec 31st in the Columbia Cougars tournament.
MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS – MEN – The men are really struggling in this first year under their new head coach. Their current record is 1-13, with the one win coming just days ago in an 85-31 beatdown of King’s University College of Canada. They don’t play again until Dec 29th against Lethbridge. WOMEN – The women are doing much better, boasting a 9-4 record so far including an 89-44 thrashing of Walla Walla and a 104-46 mangling of King’s University College of Canada. Like the men, their next game is also Dec 29th, but against Whitman University.
MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE ARCHERS – MEN – The men have a record of 2-5 right now including a 101-68 rout of Central Christian College Of The Bible. Their next game is not until January 13th against Roosevelt University. WOMEN – The women are rolling along at 7-3 at the present including a 104-49 smackdown of Silver Lake. (So the women can say they beat the Lakers!) The ladies will next play January 11th against Judson.
NEBRASKA WESLEYAN PRAIRIE WOLVES – MEN – The men’s team is currently 4-5 with one win being a 74-51 hammering of Millikin. Their next game is on Dec 28th against Southwestern. WOMEN – The women are sitting at 5-4 right now including an 80-50 rout of Martin Luther (which he’ll no doubt complain about in his upcoming 100th thesis). They next play on Dec 29th against Benedictine.
NEW HAMPSHIRE TECHNICAL INSTITUTE LYNX – MEN – The men are rolling along at 12-5 right now. They started the season in style with an 88-52 thumping of Hampshire College. They next play on Jan 8th against Berkley College. WOMEN – The women have a record of 7-8 at this moment. One of their wins was a 62-16 (yes, SIXTEEN) drubbing of Nashua. Their next game is likewise Jan 8th against Massasoit.
NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS – MEN – The men are currently 7-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Two of their losses came against upper division schools and one win was an upset of an upper division team- Virginia State. Their next game is on Jan 8th at Washington Adventist. WOMEN – The women are cruising with a 7-3 record overall, 5-2 in conference. The three losses were to Brandywine, Averett and Rochester. They play again on Dec 30th against Washington and Lee.
NORTHWEST MISSOURI BEARCATS – MEN – The men are struggling at 2-7 at the present. One win was a 74-41 rout of Graceland. The men play again on Dec 31st against Lincoln. WOMEN – The women are having a great year so far with a record of 7-2 overall, 3-2 in conference. One win was a 102-64 evisceration of the Southwestern Moundbuilders. Their next game is likewise Dec 31st against Lincoln.
OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY STORMY PETRELS – MEN – The men are sitting at 5-5 overall but 1-0 in conference play. The wins include a 96-50 thrashing of Sewanee and one of the losses came in overtime at Emory. Their next game is Dec 31st at Rhodes WOMEN – The women’s record is 2-7 overall but 1-0 in conference. The wins came against Agnes Scott and Sewanee. The women play again on Dec 28th against LaGrange.
OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE AMBASSADORS – MEN – The men currently have a record of 2-7. The wins were a 101-70 mangling of Union College and a 92-70 win over the St Louis Christian College Soldiers. They next play on January 4th in the Cookson Hills Classic. WOMEN – The women are 3-3 with one win being a savage beatdown of Baptist Bible College by a score of 73-36. Their next game is also Jan 4th in the Cookson Hills Classic.
