COLLEGE FOOTBALL: JAYHAWK CONFERENCE MEDIA DAY

Jayhawk ConferenceThere is plenty to talk about concerning Jayhawk Conference football this year.

The 2019 Football Media Day in Wichita, Kansas is scheduled for July 26.

BLUE DRAGONS FOOTBALL PICKED FOURTH IN THE JAYHAWK CONFERENCE

Hutchinson Blue DragonsWICHITA – There was one overriding theme on Friday at the 2018 Jayhawk Conference Football Media Day at Newman University.

“The Jayhawk Conference is an elite conference. There are eight great teams,” Hutchinson College head coach Rion Rhoades said during his turn at the podium.

“The conference is a grind. You have to be on your A-game,” Butler coach Tim Schaffner said.

The other six coaches had similar feelings about the 2018 football season. With the new scholarship rules in place for one full recruiting cycle, all eight coaches agreed that the KJCCC has more talent on all eight teams top to bottom than at any time in the league’s storied history. BLUE DRAGONS PICKED TO REPEAT AS CONFERENCE CHAMPS

BlUE DRAGONSBIGGGGGGGGGThe preseason poll has selected the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS to repeat as Jayhawk Conference champions in 2015. Last year saw the Blue Dragons have the best season in team history and they fell just one game short of playing for the National Championship. Their lone loss of the season came against Iowa Western College, which wound up losing in the national title game.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsHutchinson College, meanwhile, won their first unshared Jayhawk Conference crown since 1996, won their 6th straight Salt City Bowl and are trying to repeat as conference champs for the first time since their Threepeat of 1948-1950.
