SOCCER ARMAGEDDON IN ORANGE BEACH CONTINUES

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – (box score) No. 3-seed Hastings (Neb.) scored four goals in the first-half and dominated Holy Names (Calif.), 5-0 in the Quarterfinals of the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship final site from the Orange Beach Sportsplex. The shutout was the Broncos sixth-straight and 17th this season in 23 games. Hastings will play in the Semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. CST against the winner of No. 7 William Jewell (Mo.) and No. 15 Science & Arts (Okla.). Continue reading

15TH-RANKED USAO DROVERS MEN’S SOCCER WINS 1ST-EVER 2ND ROUND MATCH

Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog are very familiar with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers men’s soccer team. Players like goalkeeper “Force Field” McEntee, “NC Hammer”, “Niiiiiikolaaaaa” and “Dr Drover” have made the past few seasons very special for USAO soccer. SOCCER DRAMA IN ORANGE BEACH, ALABAMA: TODAY’S ACTION AT THE NAIA SOCCER TOURNAMENT

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – (box score) In a rematch of the 2008 National Championship final, unseeded Bethel (Tenn.) eliminated No. 1-seed Rio Grande (Ohio), 2-1 today in the first game of the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship final site from the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Bethel (14-5-1), who defeated Rio Grande by the same score in overtime to win the 2008 title, now advances to play at 7:30 p.m. CST on Wednesday against the winner of Mobile (Ala.) and Belhaven (Miss.).  Continue reading

DROVERS, BLUE RAIDERS AND OTHER TEAMS READY FOR NEXT ROUND OF THE NAIA MEN’S SOCCER TOURNAMENT BEGINNING MONDAY NOV 29TH

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — (Live Video) (Live Stats) (Press Book – PDF) The 52nd annual NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship final site event will begin on Nov. 29 with four matches from Orange Beach, Ala. Sixteen teams will compete in the single-elimination tournament from the Orange Beach Sportsplex. The second round concludes on Nov. 30, followed by quarterfinal matches on Dec. 1, the semifinal round on Dec. 3 and the National Championship final on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. CST. Continue reading

NC HAMMER IS A CHAMPION OF CHARACTER

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – One Drover left Brownsville, Texas, with two special honors.

PALM BEACH ATLANTIC SAILFISH WOMEN’S SOCCER HEADED FOR NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

 The Sailfish women’s soccer team dominated the field at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional this weekend as they closed out their second consecutive region championship with a 5-0 win over Southeastern University as they will once again represent the South Region at the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida in early December.

Senior Angie Kuhn did as she has done all season which has been leading the Sailfish offensive attack. The North Fort Myers, Florida native tallied a hat trick with two goals in the first-half and another in the second-half as PBA scored early and often. Continue reading

THE BEST NAIA SOCCER TOURNAMENT PREVIEW ANYWHERE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Scoreboard) The 2010 NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round will take place on Saturday with 15 matches played at on-campus sites. In the 30-team field, seven programs are repeat selections from the 2009 National Championship, while eight others are making their first appearance overall. The 15 opening round winners will join Mobile (Ala.) in Orange Beach, Ala., at the National Championship final site from Nov. 29 – Dec. 4. Continue reading

BLUE JAYS WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM WINS 6TH STRAIGHT CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE TITLE

The 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins women’s soccer team took down 11th-ranked Dickinson, 3-0, to win its sixth straight Centennial Conference Championship and secure the automatic conference bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Jays have now defeated Dickinson the past three seasons in the conference title game and improve to 16-3-1 with the win, while the Red Devils drop to 15-3-1.

ERSKINE FLYING FLEET MEN’S SOCCER MUZZLES THE BULLDOGS

DUE WEST-  Erskine sophomore Matt Sluga (Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: “Caviar”) exploded for four goals as the #2 Flying Fleet bombed the #7 Barton Bulldogs at Huggins Field in the Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals, 6-2. The win vaults Erskine into the semi-finals where they will host the #6 seed Coker Cobras at Huggins Field on Friday night at 7:00 pm.

ERSKINE FLYING FLEET WOMEN’S SOCCER KNOCKED OUT OF THE CONFERENCE CAROLINAS TOURNAMENT

 

Charlotte, NC – #7 Erskine women’s soccer team upset bid of #2 Queens University of Charlotte fell short as the Fleet lost 2 to 1 in Conference Carolinas first round tournament action at the Queens Sports Complex tonight.
