The votes for my latest Top 20 contest have all been counted and the winner of the designation “Coolest-Named USCAA and NCCAA Sports Team” is the Ohio State-Marion Scarlet Wave! The name certainly is pretty cool and that logo is very eye-catching! If you want to follow Scarlet Wave sports just go here: http://osumarion.osu.edu/ScarletWave/
In second place were the New Hampshire Technical Institute Lynx. Once again it seems impossible to separate a cool name from a cool logo and you can’t help wondering how much carry over votes each one brings the other. For the first time in Balladeer’s Blog’s history (a whopping 6 months I grant you, but still … ) the voting in a Top 20 List has resulted in a 3-way tie for 3rd place. Here are the 3 schools in alphabetical order:
The Lincoln Christian University Red Lions start us off with their snazzy logo and their memorable nickname. To beard these Lions in their den go here: http://www.lincolnchristian.edu/athletics/
Next we have the Maine-Augusta Moose, in whose honor I’ll throw out a new marketing slogan – “Moose: It’s singular AND plural!” (Well it’s better than my first one – “Moose: It’s what’s for dinner!” ) To follow these teams whose marching band should play the Bullwinkle theme music go here: http://www.uma.edu/athletics.html
We close with the Ozark Christian College Ambassadors and you have got to love the poetic coolness of their name as well as the fairly awesome logo that they sport. Who wouldn’t want to go play for their teams or at least attend the games so you can hear announcers say things like “And the Ambassadors negotiate their way into the lead” or other related phrases? To follow their teams go here: http://occ.edu/students/default.aspx?id=90
Honorable mention goes to the Piedmont Baptist Conquerors, who were just 4 votes behind LCU, UMA and OCC. To view the entire list and see who you think got robbed click here: https://glitternight.com/2010/11/24/the-20-coolest-named-uscaa-and-nccaa-sports-teams/
