NUMBER ONE SURVIVES A CLOSE CALL – Last night the number 1 team in the nation – the dynastic NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS – took it on the road against the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS. This game went right down to the wire, with the Bearcats holding on in the end for a 20-14 victory in this Instant Classic.
STUNG BY THE HORNETS – Meanwhile, NCAA Division Two’s 11th ranked EMPORIA STATE HORNETS had no trouble at all with the visiting UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS. The Hornets dominated the reeling Lopers on both sides of the ball for a FORTY-FIVE to THIRTEEN blowout win.
CHOOSE WISE-LY – The UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA’s COLLEGE AT WISE HIGHLAND CAVALIERS hosted the WEST VIRGINIA STATE YELLOW JACKETS. A tight game at Halftime then saw the Highland Cavaliers get a little bit of breathing room in the 2nd Half. When all was said and done UVA-Wise defeated the Yellow Jackets by a final tally of 34-24.
ROAD WARRIORS – The SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE MUSTANGS traveled to face the MINNESOTA STATE AT MOORHEAD DRAGONS yesterday. A 14-7 1st Quarter lead for the Mustangs became 34-14 by the break. In the 2nd Half the Dragons outscored Southwest Minnesota State 21-17 but lost the game 51-35.
BLOWOUTS – The MISSOURI WESTERN GRIFFONS smacked around the visiting MISSOURI SOUTHERN LIONS to the tune of 45-7 ### Meanwhile the LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY LIONS dismembered the NORTHEASTERN STATE RIVERHAWKS in a 49-10 laugher ### And the FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS mauled their guests the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES 35-6.
SHUTOUT – The CHARLESTON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES welcomed the CONCORD UNIVERSITY MOUNTAIN LIONS and treated them to a clinic in defensive mastery. The Golden Eagles kept the Mountain Lions scoreless for the entire game. The final score in this battle was Charleston University 27 Concord University 0.
