I fully understand your atheism. I’ve been an atheist in my time, but I no longer adhere to that theology. I’ve seen miracles. My own life has been blessed with the same. I am a Roman Catholic. Despite all the despair and sorrow in my life, God has kept me alive for some purpose. I once drove a car over a cliff, but I lived, unharmed! I’ve tried overdosing on drugs. I’ve slit my wrists. I tried to hang myself! Always, God, in His Mercy, spared me for whatever reason I can’t fathom. I am destitute. I live primarily on the charity of others. I admit that I am a sinner, and daily I beg God, or whatever you want to call the Great Force that caused our Universe into being, for forgiveness. I agree that Islam, as practiced by so many, is a heresy, devoid of compassion, and ignoring the dictates of the Holy Koran; however, you MUST NOT GIVE UP YOUR FAITH! Pope John Paul II and the Dali Lama both said that there were many paths to salvation. Pray, my friend! Pray to anything. Just pray. Meditate. Find peace. Atheism is not the answer! Believe that there is a Higher Power who will grant you peace, solace, comfort and redemption! God/Allah/Great Creator/Earth Mother and all gods known and unknown (to paraphrase the Ancient Romans) bless you and keep you. With love and understanding, Russell Smith
