* NCAA DIVISION TWO *
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The storied NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS seized a 10-0 1st Quarter lead over the visiting UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES. The Bearcats expanded that to a 24-6 advantage by Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the Wolves pulled to within 24-20, but with the pressure on, Northwest Missouri State exploded in the 4th for 14 points to the 3 scored by West Georgia. The Bearcats advanced to the title game by a score of 38-23.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – The SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY RAMS built up a 14-3 1st Quarter lead over their guests the GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS. That remained the score at Halftime but in the 3rd Quarter the Lakers came back to take a 17-14 edge. The Rams outscored Grand Valley State 20-15 in the 4th Quarter to win the game 34-32. It will be Shepherd vs Northwest Missouri State for the D2 championship next Saturday.
* NCAA DIVISION THREE *
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The Big Two battled each other in a Semifinal game for once instead of in the Stagg Bowl. The UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS hosted the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS. The Warhawks are in a down year and the Purple Raiders pushed them around the field, ultimately winning a 36-6 blowout. Mt Union heads back to the championship game.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES took the field against the visiting LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS. The Tommies dominated the game early on, leading the Wildcats 23-3 by the Half on their way to a 38-17 rout. Coincidentally enough St Thomas was the last non-Whitewater team to play Mt Union in the Stagg Bowl, and will be once again this year.
