COLLEGE BASKETBALL POSTSEASON ACTION

* MIDLANDS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *

Bellevue BruinsCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The MCAC Tournament consists of a North and South Division, with the winner of each division playing each other for the conference title. The North Champs – the BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY BRUINS did battle with the South Champs – the COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS. The Bruins had seized a slight 41-39 edge at Halftime in this true battle of champions. The Bobcats tied it up at 78-78 to end Regulation and in Overtime Taylor Young – who had 25 points for Bellevue – nailed a buzzer-beater to give the Bruins a 91-89 triumph! * THE BRUINS MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! *  

* CASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE *

college of idaho coyoteCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES did battle with the 4th seeded SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS. The Coyotes were on fire in the 1st Half and led 44-32 by the break. In the 2nd Half the Raiders came charging back, and had tied the score with just under 7 minutes to play. Gradually College of Idaho got separation, ultimately winning by a final score of 86-79. * THE COYOTES MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! *   

* CROSSROADS LEAGUE *

Indiana Wesleyan WildcatsCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The title game in the conference was between the top seeded Defending Champions of NAIA2 basketball, the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS and the 3rd seeded BETHEL (IN) COLLEGE PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots). The Wildcats took charge early on and had compiled a 46-37 lead by Halftime. After the break Indiana Wesleyan maintained their intensity and walked away with an 87-72 victory. * THE WILDCATS MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! * 

* GREAT PLAINS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *

Midland University WarriorsCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 3 seeds – the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS – pulled off an upset in this hardcourt clash with the top seeded MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS. By Halftime the Warriors had put the Mustangs on notice with a 43-37 lead and then consummated the deal in the 2nd Half, cruising to an 89-67 blowout win. Marcus Franklin led the victors with 24 points. * THE WARRIORS MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT!

* KENTUCKY INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *

Indiana East Red WolvesCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – It was an all-North Division title tilt in this conference as the (1 North) INDIANA UNIVERSITY EAST RED WOLVES squared off against the (2 North) POINT PARK UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. The Red Wolves trailed the Pioneers 32-29 at Halftime but retained their composure and came back in the 2nd Half for an authoritative 84-67 win. Tyler Fangman led IU-East with 17 points while his teammate Huston Clark logged a Double Double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. * THE RED WOLVES MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! *   

* NORTH STAR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION *

Dakota State Trojans logoCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The NSAA championship game pitted the 2nd seeded DAKOTA STATE TROJANS against the top seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES. The Trojans forced the Jimmies to play catch-up for most of the 1st Half, but UJ did cut a 12 point Dakota State advantage down to just 35-32 by the break. The Jimmies retook the lead with 1:30 left to play but the Trojans turned the tables on them and went on to win this 66-65 Instant Classic! DSU’s Bryant Allen had 23 points and 9 rebounds. * THE TROJANS MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! *

* SUN CONFERENCE *

Embry-Riddle EaglesCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded EMBRY- RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES and the 3rd seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE engaged in an Overtime epic for the Sun Conference Crown. The Fire held a 39-36 Halftime edge over the Eagles, but Embry- Riddle fought back to force Overtime by tying things up at 73-73 to end Regulation. In the extra session the Eagles eked out a 90-86 triumph! Dalton Barnes tossed in 27 points for ERAU. * THE EAGLES MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! *

* WOLVERINE-HOOSIER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *

cornerstoneCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The WHAC title game was played between the 3rd seeded CORNERSTONE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES and the top seeds – the DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. The Golden Eagles trailed the Panthers 35-33 at the Half but poured on the offense after the break, going on to defeat Davenport University by a final score of 78-65. Ben Lanning led Cornerstone University with his 21 points. * THE GOLDEN EAGLES MOVE ON TO THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! *   

* AMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE *

Lyon College ScotsROUND ONE, GAME ONE – The 6 seeds – the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS – took on the 11th seeded HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS. The Scots took charge early and had built up a 39-25 lead by Halftime and built upon that in the 2nd Half, ultimately defeating the Hornets by a very comfortable margin of 86-58. Lyon College’s Devonte Young notched THIRTY-THREE points for his team!  

PARKPIRATESROUND ONE, GAME TWO – In the 5 spot the PARK UNIVERSITY PIRATES took the court against the 12th seeded SAINT LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY EUTECTICS, for whom just making the conference tourney was a step forward. Unsurprisingly this game was a rout from start to finish, with the Pirates up 46-20 at the Half enroute to a 76-51 victory. Freddie Manyawu led the Pirates with 14 points.  

William Woods OwlsROUND ONE, GAME THREE – The 8th seeded WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS and the 9th seeded HANNIBAL- LAGRANGE TROJANS played the tightest game of the night. At Halftime the score was knotted up at 38-38 and in a defense-heavy final 20 minutes the Owls managed a 67-62 First Round win. D.J. Johnson was the leading scorer for William Woods University with 23 points.  

Benedictine U at Springfield BulldogsROUND ONE, GAME FOUR – The 7th seeded BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY AT SPRINGFIELD BULLDOGS tangled with the 10 seeds – the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS in this game. A 37-31 lead for the Bulldogs at the midpoint wound up as a 79-69 win when all was said and done. Stephan Shepherd from Benedictine-Springfield led all of his teammates with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
