COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM OCTOBER 11th

Warner Memorial U Royals helmetTHE ROYALS RULE THE WORLD – The NAIA’s WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS played host to the NCAA Division TWO’s KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE PANTHERS and, as NAIA teams are so inclined to do, upset the higher division team. Royals Head Coach Rod Shafer, the master of preparation, had his team firing on all cylinders and sent the Panthers home with a 48-45 loss in an undeniable Instant Classic!

Fort Lewis SkyhawksNUMBER TWO TAKES A FALL – In the NCAA Division Two the FORT LEWIS COLLEGE SKYHAWKS toppled the 2nd ranked team in the nation – the CSU-PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES. The Skyhawks trailed the Thunderwolves 10-7 in the 1st Quarter and 16-14 at Halftime. When the 3rd Quarter ended FLC held its first lead 17-16 but CSUP retook the lead 22-17 in the 4th.

With 3:46 to play Skyhawks QB Jordan Doyle tossed the ball to WR Jordan Gillen on the reverse. Running out of players named Jordan, Gillen completed a pass to Juquelle Thompson for a TD and a 23-22 lead. The defense held and Ft Lewis won by that same 23-22 score. 

HELMETCampbellsville_KYNUMBER THREE GOES DOWN – The NAIA’s number 3 team in the nation – the GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS, were on the road against the unranked CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in an in-state catfight. The men in C-Ville had been turned into believers by Coach Perry Thomas and showed Georgetown that they weren’t intimidated. In this case of Tiger on Tiger violence the Campbellsville team emerged triumphant in a 28-24 game for the ages!    

Northwest Missouri BearcatsYAWNING THEIR WAY TO VICTORY – NCAA Division Two’s number 1 defending champions – the NORTHWEST MISSOURI BEARCATS – won a 51-20 road game against the LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY LIONS     ###      And the NAIA’s number 1 MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS eviscerated the homestanding HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS to the tune of SEVENTY-SIX to FOURTEEN.

MidAmerica_Nazarene_KSTOP TWENTY-FIVE UPSETS – In addition to CU over GC the NAIA Gridiron Challenge at Arrowhead Stadium saw one of its games result in a huge upset as well. The MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS played an Instant Classic with the 7th ranked MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS in the 3pm game. A 3-0 Pioneer advantage in the 1st Quarter became a 10-10 tie at the break. The Vikings led 17-10 after 3 Quarters of play but ultimately MNU won this battle 20-17.  

Baker U Wildcats helmetCOLLISIONS OF RANKED TEAMS – In the second match at the NAIA Gridiron Challenge at Arrowhead Stadium another game for the ages saw the (2) BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS win a 27-21 thriller with the (19) BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS.     ###      The (10) ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES edged the (14) ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS 12-7     ###      And the (16) SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS hammered the visiting (24) SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS 53-26.  

Tabor_KSTOP TWENTY TEAMS ROLLING – The (11) TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS doubled up on the KANSAS WESLEYAN COYOTES in a 70-35 explosion of offense     ###      The (12) CUMBERLAND BULLDOGS edged the UNION (KY) BULLDOGS 47-46     ###      The (13) NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS blanked the BRIAR CLIFF CHARGERS 38-0     ###      And the (18) DAKOTA WESLEYAN TIGERS beat the DOANE TIGERS 27-23.     

Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie WolvesFOUR QUARTERS WERE NOT ENOUGH – The NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES welcomed the CONCORDIA (NE) BULLDOGS t0 Abel Stadium on Saturday. The Prairie Wolves led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and held a 17-14 edge at Halftime. The two teams exchanged Field Goals in the 3rd but in the 4th the Bulldogs seized a 31-20 lead with just 4:56 left to play. QB Tyler Francis led NWU in a comeback that tied the game at 31-31, forcing Overtime. After holding Concordia to a Field Goal in the extra session the Prairie Wolves responded with a Touchdown for a 37-34 victory.  

Menlo Oaks helmetHAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The MENLO COLLEGE OAKS celebrated Homecoming by defeating their guests the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM by a score of 35-14     ###      The BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES handed a 21-16 defeat to the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS one week after they brought down the number 3 team in the nation     ###      And the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS defeated the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS 31-14.  

Ottawa (KS) BravesUNHAPPY HOMECOMING – The (21) OTTAWA UNIVERSITY BRAVES spoiled the Homecoming festivities for the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES yesterday. QB Michael Behr had the Braves up 14-0 at Halftime but the Spires made it a 14-7 game by the end of the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th OU outscored USM 10-7 for a 24-14 victory. 

Jamestown College JimmiesUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES won a 37-29 road game against the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS     ###      The COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES topped the visiting MSU-NORTHERN LIGHTS 35-31     ###      And the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS defeated the homestanding PERU STATE BOBCATS in a 27-20 thriller.  

Valdosta State BlazersOUR DIVISION CAN BEAT UP YOUR DIVISION – The SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE are in just their FIRST year of intercollegiate football but have already embraced the NAIA tradition of defeating teams from NCAA Division Three. Yesterday the Fire improved to 4-1 with a 42-21 smackdown of the visiting BIRMINGHAM SOUTHERN COLLEGE PANTHERS. With Presentation College’s 49-0 slaughter of Maranatha Baptist mentioned below the NAIA went 2-0 this week against D3, PLUS notched a D2 win, which counts for two D3 wins.  

Langston LionsROAD WARRIORS – The LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS handed a 28-21 loss to the homestanding OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON     ###      Meanwhile the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS won at the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS by a final score of 45-39     ###      And the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES defeated the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS 34-23 in their own house.  

Valley City State Vikings helmetONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – In these lopsided games the (23) VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS dismembered the visiting MAYVILLE STATE COMETS by a score of SIXTY- TWO to SIX!     ###      And the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS clubbed down the homestanding EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS to the tune of SEVENTY to FOURTEEN!

southwestern assemblies of god helmetDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS welcomed the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS yesterday. The Lions showed the Pioneers how football is played the Jesse Godding way, making their coach proud with a 40-20 victory over the Pioneers. With this win SAGU has now taken two games in a row and is looking for more.

Bluefield_WVROAD WARRIORS – The BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS were on the road against the BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY BLAZERS. The H.T. Newell Field spectators were silenced by the Rambling Rams’ 21-14 1st Quarter lead, stunned by their 31-21 Halftime advantage and outrightly glum as Bluefield defeated the Blazers 45-27. RB’s Adrian Pope and Sam Bennett rushed for 115 and 138 yards respectively in the win. 

Presentation Saints helmetSHUTOUT – The PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS welcomed the MARANATHA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SABRETOOTHS and managed that most difficult of tasks in this age of rules that outrageously favor the offense: a shutout. Not that the Saints’ offense was slacking, either. Presentation College won the game by a score of FORTY-NINE to NOTHING! 

Dordt College DefendersIN THE LION’S DEN – The DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS invaded historic Ellendale, ND to take on the TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS. Both teams were looking for their second win of the season and in this case the Defenders left the field happy. Dordt College came out on top by a final score of 37-20.

Eastern New Mexico UOUTRIGHT SLAUGHTER – The EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS were on the road against the MCMURRY UNIVERSITY WAR HAWKS yesterday. The Greyhounds proceeded to push the War Hawks all over the field offensively. When all of the dust had settled in this buttkicking ENMU went back home with a SIXTY-TWO to TWENTY-THREE victory.

Lindsey_Wilson_KYROAD AND HOME – The (20) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS visited the (25) KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS and delivered a 31-7 smackdown.     ###      Meanwhile the (8) LENOIR- RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS played host to the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS and meted out some punishment of their own. In a much closer game the Bears defeated the Crusaders 32-21.  

* USCAA *

NNAS_VABUILDING UP CONFIDENCE – The NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS traveled to Baltimore to face NCAA Division ONE team the Coppin State Eagles. Though the Builders weren’t able to log a win they gave the Eagles an incredible fight that did the USCAA proud! After a scoreless 1st Quarter NNAS took a 6-0 lead into Halftime. Coppin State went on to win 12-6 but knew they had been in a tussle. QB Deon Lavendar passed for 132 yards for the Builders.

Williamson Trade HelmetDAN AND THE MECHANICS – The WILLIAMSON TRADE SCHOOL MECHANICS battled the visiting DELAWARE GAMECOCKS yesterday. Coach Dan Drake did an excellent job of getting last week’s heartbreaking loss out of his team’s mindset and focusing on this game. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Mechanics held a 12-6 lead at the Half. That became a 24-6 lead in the 3rd Quarter and 32-6 in the 4th with Delaware adding a garbage time TD for a final score of Mechanics 32  Gamecocks 14.

Iowa Wesleyan CollegeMAULING THE KNIGHTS – The IOWA WESLEYAN COLLEGE TIGERS, ranked as the number 1 team in the USCAA in Balladeer’s Blog’s unofficial poll, welcomed NCAA Division 3’s MARTIN LUTHER KNIGHTS. The Tigers and Knights were tied up 7-7 after 1 Quarter of play but IWC trailed 14-7 at the break. The Tigers laid the hammer down in the 2nd Half, however, winning the game 34-14. QB Caleb Huss threw for 125 yards.

Wesley WolverinesSHUTOUT – The (4) WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES visited the CONCORDIA (AL) COLLEGE HORNETS and left them rethinking their lives in the wake of the devastation they wrought. The Wolverines led the Hornets 12-0 after 1 Quarter of play and never let up for a minute, ultimately winning a FIFTY-FOUR to NOTHING laugher.

Montclair_St_NJRED HAWKS ON THE ROAD – The MONTCLAIR STATE RED HAWKS winged their way south to play the SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. The Red Hawks were in control from start to finish, leading the Knights 21-8 at Halftime and winning by a score of 35-15. QB Ryan Davies passed for 116 yards and 2 Touchdowns. 

* NCAA DIVISION TWO *

California_PATOP TWENTY-FIVE UPSETS – The CALIFORNIA (PA) VULCANS – as in the Roman fire and forge god Vulcan – welcomed the (14) SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCKETS. The Vulcans wound up defeating the boys from The Rock by a final score of 48-26.     ###      The AZUSA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY COUGARS crushed the (22) HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACKS 55-21 Thursday night     ###      And the VALDOSTA STATE UNIVERSITY BLAZERS dragged down the visiting (23) UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES in a 40-6 pummeling.  

Malone UniversityWORKING OVERTIME – The MALONE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS hosted the NORTHERN MICHIGAN WILDCATS. The Pioneers trailed the Wildcats 35-21 with 6 minutes left in Regulation. QB Kaleb Scott led his team in a rally, tying the game at 35-all and forcing Overtime. In the extra session Malone made it 42-35 then shut out Northern Michigan fro the win. 

Michigan Tech helmetROAD WARRIORS – The MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES traveled to Hantz Stadium to battle the NORTHWOOD TIMBERWOLVES. The Huskies led 14-3 by Halftime and kept in control of the game after the break, winning in the end by a final score of 21-6. QB Tyler Scarlett went 17 of 25 for 149 yards and a Touchdown in the victory.    

Fayetteville State BroncosONE POINT WONDERS – The FAYETTEVILLE STATE BRONCOS under Coach Lawrence Kershaw were on the road against the SHAW UNIVERSITY BEARS. The Broncos led 20-12 at the break but had to hold on in the end for a 27-26 win.     ###      And the ST AUGUSTINE’S FALCONS likewise won by a point on the road -in their case against the LIVINGSTONE BLUE BEARS by a score of 31-30.  

Virginia Union PanthersONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL –  The VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS (5-1) put up a program-record 697 yards of offense in a SEVENTY-EIGHT to THIRTEEN slaughter of the LINCOLN (PA) LIONS on Homecoming     ###      And the FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS walloped the visiting TIFFIN DRAGONS by a final score of SIXTY-EIGHT to TWENTY.

West Chester Golden RamsGETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Thursday night the 9th ranked WEST CHESTER GOLDEN RAMS traveled to face the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS and handled them easily. The Golden Rams went back home with a 29-7 victory.     ###      Meanwhile the number 3 MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS notched a 44-24 road win over the WINONA STATE WARRIORS     ###      And the 12th ranked DELTA STATE STATESMEN defeated the visiting SHORTER UNIVERSITY HAWKS  35-20.

Limestone College Saints helmetCLASH OF NEWBIES – The LIMESTONE COLLEGE SAINTS and the PAINE COLLEGE LIONS are both in their very first year of intercollegiate football. Yesterday these two newcomers to gridiron action squared off against each other with the result being that the homestanding Saints prevailed over the Lions by a final score of 47-30.

Central OklahomaHOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON? – The Marathon Game of the Week for this time around was the TRIPLE OVERTIME tussle between the (25) UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (their spelling) and the visiting MISSOURI SOUTHERN LIONS. A missed 2-point conversion was the difference in the game as the Bronchos won it 43-41.  

Southeastern Oklahoma Savage StormSTORM FRONT – The SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA SAVAGE STORM hosted the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM. By the end of the 1st Quarter the Savage Storm had a 17-0 lead and never let their opponents in the game. The final score wound up being FORTY-FIVE to NOTHING! QB Ryan Polite passed for 289 yards and 2 Touchdowns in the victory.  

Mississippi_College_OLD1YA GOTTA HAVE FAITH – The MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE CHOCTAWS got off the schneid for 2014 on Saturday. The Choctaws welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF FAITH GLORY EAGLES and manhandled them to the tune of FIFTY-SIX to FOURTEEN.     ###      Meanwhile the CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY PANTHERS shut out the visiting COLLEGE OF FAITH MIGHTY BELIEVERS 47-0.  

Shepherd Univ Rams helmetSHUTOUTS – The (10) SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY RAMS hosted the UVA-WISE HIGHLAND CAVALIERS and improved to 6-0. A 14-0 lead in the 1st Quarter was just a start as SU crushed the Highland Cavaliers FIFTY-ONE to NOTHING! QB Jeff Ziemba threw for 271 yds and FOUR Touchdowns in the win.     ###      And the (13) BLOOMSBURG HUSKIES shut out the visiting MILLERSVILLE MARAUDERS 41-zip.  

Nebraska-KearneyALL-NAME GAMES – The UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS were Road Warriors on Saturday, mangling the NORTHEASTERN STATE RIVERHAWKS by a score of 34-7.     ###      And the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES blanked the visiting WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS 44-0.

Buffalo State BengalsTOP TWENTY-FIVE UPSETS – The BUFFALO STATE BENGALS, who have thrived on surprising ranked teams in recent years, took it on the road to face the number 13 ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS. Despite trailing 17-14 at Halftime QB Dan Serignese brought the Bengals back to win 38-27!     ###      And the DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE AGGIES toppled the 20th ranked LYCOMING WARRIORS in a 52-42 affair.   

HELMETMASSDARTMOUTHGETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Friday night the UMASS- DARTMOUTH CORSAIRS were on the road against the BRIDGEWATER STATE BEARS. The Corsairs took charge right away, leading 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 23-7 at Halftime. UMD limited the Bears to just 3 points in the 2nd Half while adding 14 more themselves for a masterfui 37-10 win. QB Cory Burnham passed for 189 yards and 4 Touchdowns in the victory.

Randolph Macon helmetDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – Also on Friday night the RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS welcomed the CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY CARDINALS to Day Field. A 21-7 Yellow Jacket lead at the Half became 28-7 after 3 Quarters of play and ultimately a 42-21 triumph for Randolph-Macon College. RB John Byrd rushed for 185 yards and 2 Touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets.

Elmhurst Blue JaysMARATHON AFFAIR – The ELMHURST COLLEGE BLUE JAYS were in Kenosha, WI to face the CARTHAGE COLLEGE RED MEN. The Blue Jays had a commanding 35-14 lead by Halftime but the Red Men forced Overtime by tying the game up 35-35 after the break. Both teams notched TD’s in the 1st OT but in the 2nd Elmhurst put up 7 then shut out Carthage for a 49-42 Double Overtime win. RB Josh Williams rushed for 249 yds and 3 TD’s for the Blue Jays.

Texas Lutheran BulldogsSIX AND OH, BABY – The TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS improved to 6-0 with a win over the EAST TEXAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS. A 7-7 tie in the 1st Quarter became a 24-14 advantage for the Tigers at the Half. The Bulldogs inched closer in the 3rd Quarter then exploded for 20 points in the 4th for a 55-49 win in this shootout. QB Trenton White passed for 250 yds and 3 TD’s in the victory.

Norwich Cadets helmetCADETS ABOVE .500 – The NORWICH COLLEGE CADETS moved to a 3-2 record with their victory over the visiting MOUNT IDA MUSTANGS. The Cadets converted a 14-0 1st Quarter lead into a 28-19 victory when all was said and done. RB Al Georgio rushed for 247 yards and 2 Touchdowns for Norwich.

Cortland State Red DragonsCOLORFUL TEAMS WINNING – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS took it on the road against the TEACHERS COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY LIONS. The Red Dragons compiled a 14-0 lead by Halftime which became 24-7 in the 3rd Quarter and finally a 24-14 win.     ###      And the ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS hosted the MONMOUTH COLLEGE SCOTS and broke a 4th Quarter tie to win the game 31-24.

Bowdoin Polar Bears helmetA TALE OF TWO POLAR BEAR TEAMS – The BOWDOIN COLLEGE POLAR BEARS were on the road against the HAMILTON CONTINENTALS. The Polar Bears trailed 10-6 at Halftime but came alive offensively after the break and won the game 30-24. RB Tyler Grant rushed for 97 yards and 2 Touchdowns.     ###      And the OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY POLAR BEARS got eradicated 62-0 by the visiting (3) MT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS.  

Maryville Scots helmetIF IT ISN’T SCOTTISH IT’S CRAP – The MARYVILLE COLLEGE FIGHTING SCOTS visited Adams Stadium to take on the FERRUM COLLEGE PANTHERS. A 14-7 1st Quarter lead became a 20-13 Halftime advantage which, after a scoreless 3rd Quarter, ended in a 23-13 win.     ###      And the COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS doubled up on the visiting ALLEGHENY GATORS by a score of 42-21.

Iowa Western CollegeTWO AND THREE STAY UNBEATEN – No upsets in the Top Ten in the NJCAA this weekend! In fact the 2nd ranked IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS annihilated the homestanding INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES in a FIFTY-TWO to NOTHING laugher.     ###      And the number 3 MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST BULLDOGS won a 7-0 defensive epic at the PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS.  

ASA CollegeAVENGERS ON THE ROAD – The ASA COLLEGE AVENGERS took it on the road against the LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS yesterday. The Avengers are used to dominating but got a huge fight from the Falcons. In the end ASA College prevailed over Lackawanna by a final score of 21-14.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsNOT SINCE 2010 – The (5) HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS improved to 7-0 for the first time since 2010 with their win over the visiting GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS. The Blue Dragons were in charge from start to finish in this game. A 35-7 Halftime lead became a 44-14 final score with RB Alvin Kamara rushing for 132 yards and 3 Touchdowns.  

Vermilion College Ironmen helmetHAVE REPULSOR RAYS, WILL TRAVEL – The VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN got themselves back on the winning track this week with a road victory over the ITASCA COLLEGE VIKINGS. After 4 epic Quarters of football the Ironmen wound up going back home with a 27-21 win in this Instant Classic.

Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes helmetWILD BUFFALO STAMPEDE – The ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES welcomed the TEXAS A&T SPARTANS on Saturday. By the time the game was over the Buffaloes had logged a very authoritative 34-14 victory over their visitors and thoroughly pleased the home crowd!

Tyler Apaches helmetINSTANT CLASSICS – The TYLER COLLEGE APACHES were on the road against the GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS and won a 47-42 game for the ages.     ###      And the HUDSON VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS likewise won a road thriller – in their case against the MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS by a score of 20-14. 

Itawamba College IndiansGETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – The ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS played host to the NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS on Thursday night and were positively inhospitable, sending the Tigers home reeling from a 38-19 defeat.     ###      Meanwhile the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS won a 23-14 game with the MISSISSIPPI DELTA TROJANS.     ###      And the SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI BEARS humilated the homestanding COAHOMA TIGERS in a 52-10 laugher.

Riverside College TigersTOP TEN UPSETS – The 8th ranked RIVERSIDE COLLEGE TIGERS welcomed the number 6 FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS. The Tigers laid down the law right off the bat, leading 12-3 in the 1st Quarter and 22-6 at Halftime enroute to a 36-13 upset victory. QB Nicholas King went 23 of 34 for 322 yards and 3 Touchdowns in the win. 

Golden West College RustlersROAD RUSTLERS – The GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS were on the road against the VENTURA COLLEGE PIRATES on Saturday. Despite a 3-0 1st Quarter lead the Rustlers trailed 10-5 at the Half. After the break Golden West College pulled to within 20-19 of the Pirates in the 3rd Quarter then overtook them in the 4th for a 32-20 win. Rustlers QB Chris d’Entremont passed for 448 yards and 3 Touchdowns in the game.    

Gustavus Adolphus Gusties helmetWORKING OVERTIME – The PALOMAR COLLEGE COMETS took the field against the visiting MOORPARK RAIDERS. Despite a 17-7 1st Quarter lead for the Comets which became a 31-14 lead at Halftime the Raiders came back to tie the game at 38-38 to force Overtime. A missed PAT in the extra session gave the Comets a 45-44 victory. QB Mitch Bartram passed for 197 yards and 3 Touchdowns for Palomar.  

Bakersfield College RenegadesBATTLE ROYAL – The BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES were up against the homestanding CITRUS COLLEGE OWLS. The Owls led 7-0 early and 14-10 by the Half. After the break the Renegades came storming back in the 4th Quarter for a 17-14 triumph. Tarek Yaeggie gave Bakersfield a little stability at Quarterback. 

Santa ana donsDONS ON THE ROAD – The SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS traveled to Rancho Cucamonga to take on the CHAFFEY COLLEGE PANTHERS. A 14-0 lead for the Dons after 1 Quarter of play became a tight 14-13 game by the break. A 23-20 Santa Ana advantage to end the 3rd Quarter wound up as a final score of Dons 29  Panthers 23. WR Hayden Dunn pulled in 166 receiving yards and 1 Touchdown in the win.

Saddleback_CAVARYING DEGREES OF BEATDOWNS – The SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS evened their record at 3-3 as QB Ricky Bautista led them to a 44-26 triumph over the COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS COUGARS in their own house     ###      And the (4) MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES annihilated the visiting GROSSMONT COLLEGE GRIFFINS to the tune of FIFTY-TWO to SEVEN!  

Orange Coast College helmetFORTY-NINE POINTS OR BUST – The ORANGE COAST COLLEGE PIRATES welcomed the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS and led 28-3 at Halftime enroute to a 49-10 drubbing. QB Kody Whitaker threw for 335 yds and 5 TD’s in the win.     ###      And the COLLEGE OF THE SISKIYOUS EAGLES won a 49-16 road game against the COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS.
