COURAGEOUS WOMEN: A SHOUTOUT TO THE WOMEN OF THE KURDISH ARMY

Here’s a shoutout to the Kurdish women serving in the armed forces fighting against the Islamic State. Their courage is awe-inspiring and serves as a reminder of what all women risk losing in the global battle against the misogynistic forces of Muslim fanatics. These photos are stirring in a way I’m not fit to capture in words.

While some women consider themselves brave for lifting protest signs these women carry the coffin of one of their fallen sisters.
