THURSDAY NIGHT’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES

Despite what ESPN says tonight kicks off WEEK TWO of the 2014 college football season. There are NINETEEN games tonight: 

NORTH STAR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION GAME OF THE WEEK – The UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES will take it on the road to face the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS. 

IT’S IN THE CARDS – The CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS are going to host the ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS in the first of this year’s games that pit the NAIA against the NCAA Division 3. 

THE RAID ON CAMPBELLSVILLE – A Bluegrass State showdown will pit the number 18 LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS against the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in historic “C-Ville” itself! 

HAVE BALLS, WILL TRAVEL – Several of the ever-gutsy teams in the NAIA are traveling to battle NCAA Division ONE teams tonight. Every year NAIA teams upset several Division TWO teams and have pulled off occassional upsets of D-One teams as well. Here’s a breakdown: The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS visit the Charleston Southern Buccaneers     ###      

(cont’d) The KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS visit the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles     ###      The  MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS visit the SE Missouri State Cardinals    ###     The REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES visit the Mercer Bears     ###

Down at the two-year college level there’s additional gridiron action:

JAYHAWK TITANS IN ACTION – The Ohio State and Michigan of the Jayhawk Conference will both be in action tonight: first the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS welcome the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES while Hutchinson’s archrivals the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES host a league game against the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES. 

… OF WOLVES AND WILDCATS – The COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK welcome the ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS.     ###      And the NORTH DAKOTA STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE WILDCATS take on the visiting MAYVILLE STATE COMETS. 

IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT – The homestanding PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS do battle with the COAHOMA COLLEGE TIGERS.     ###      While the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES fly their way to face the HOLMES COLLEGE BULLDOGS. 

MISSISSIPPI MADNESS – The NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS clash with the visiting JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS.     ###      Meanwhile the NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS travel to face the MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COLLEGE BULLDOGS.     ###      

MISSISSIPPI MADNESS PART TWO – The EAST CENTRAL COLLEGE WARRIORS are on the road against the MISSISSIPPI DELTA COLLEGE TROJANS.     ###      And the SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE BEARS host the defending champions of NJCAA football – the EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS.
