NUMBER ONE TAKES A FALL – In the NJCAA last night the number 1 team in the nation, the MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST BULLDOGS, hosted the number 14 JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS. Both teams came into the game undefeated so all attendees knew that “someone’s 0 must go” to use an old cliche. Points flew like shrapnel in A.L. May Stadium as these two juggernauts collided. In the end the Bobcats came out on top and unseated number one by a final score of 52-42.
MINOR BLOWOUTS – The GLENVILLE STATE PIONEERS were very ungracious to the visiting FAIRMONT STATE FALCONS. The Pioneers sent the Falcons home reeling from a 31-14 pounding. ### And the UNIVERSITY OF WEST ALABAMA TIGERS took it on the road last night against the FLORIDA TECH PANTHERS, who are in their first year of intercollegiate football. The Tigers hammered their less-experienced opponents to the tune of 45-3.
MAJOR BLOWOUTS – The EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS, just a few years removed from their most recent national championship lead off this category with their unbelievable SEVENTY to NOTHING road dismemberment of the MISSISSIPPI DELTA TROJANS. ### … And the FOND DU LAC TRIBAL COLLEGE THUNDER annihilated the visiting ITASCA COLLEGE VIKINGS by an equally lopsided final score of SIXTY-FOUR to SIX.
MUCH CLOSER RESULTS – The ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS traveled to face the HOLMES COLLEGE BULLDOGS and won an Instant Classic of a game by a score of 13-10. ### … And the NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS were on the road against the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS and defeated them. This game had a much looser final score of 34 – 21.

GAME OF THE NIGHT – The gridiron clash between the STONEHILL COLLEGE SKYHAWKS and the ASSUMPTION COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS turned out to be the undeniable game of the night! Assumption hosted this grudge match in the Northeast Ten Conference which required Overtime before a decision was finally reached. The Skyhawks emerged from OT with a 41-38 triumph in this Instant Classic.
CLOSE SHAVES TO BLOWOUTS – The homestanding SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY OWLS wound up winning a game for the ages against the MERRIMACK COLLEGE WARRIORS, coming out on top by a score of 40-34. ### Meanwhile the BENTLEY FALCONS defeated the visiting LIU-POST PIONEERS by a healthier 38-24 margin. ### And the SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA MUSTANGS smacked down their guests, the MINOT STATE BEAVERS, 37-21.
THERE ARE BLOWOUTS AND THEN THERE ARE BLOWOUTS … – The UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN CHARGERS’ restored football program has been very dangerous in recent years. Last night they flexed their pigskin muscle by taking it on the road and eradicating the SAINT ANSELM COLLEGE HAWKS. The final score in this laugher was an incredible SEVENTY to TWENTY-SIX!
FIFTIES BEAT TWENTIES – The STEVENSON UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS were on the road last night against their Middle Atlantic Conference rivals the FDU-FLORHAM DEVILS. The Mustangs pummeled their opponents into a stupor, emerging with a 55-22 victory. ### And the homestanding BRIDGEWATER STATE UNIVERSITY BEARS mauled and devoured the WORCESTER STATE LANCERS by a score of 51-20.
COLLEGE OF CARDINALS – The CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY CARDINALS from Washington D.C. welcomed Pittsburgh’s CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS under the lights. The Cardinals improved to 2-0 with an authoritative 19-7 triumph over the Tartans, who fell to a 1-2 record for the 2013 season. Up next for Catholic University will be the ANNA MARIA AMCATS.
FEELING BULLDOGISH – The COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS took on the homestanding DIABLO VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS last night. The Bulldogs scored off a blocked punt to take a 7-0 lead by the end of the 1st Quarter but the Vikings tied it up at 7-7 in the 2nd. Before the half the College of San Mateo had retaken the lead by a score of 14-7 and that wound up being the final tally as both defenses shut out the offenses in the 2nd half of the game.
