Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog will remember the heroic Irshad Manji, a Muslim woman who is openly lesbian and has been working with other Muslims to initiate reform in Islam. Irshad’s book, The Trouble With Islam Today, was discussed in a previous post here in which I also lauded her courage in dealing with the threats of physical violence which she and her fellow reformers face on a regular basis.
Manji also heads the Moral Courage Project at New York University. That project works to combat politically correct censorship and to promote intellectual diversity, sort of like my “Liberals and Conservatives and … ” posts. Hopefully more and more people will help make left- wing zealots and right- wing zealots realize their polarizing worldview is outdated and needs to evolve.
Long ago I cyber- signed the Moral Courage Project’s Statement of Secular Values and you can, too, to let your voice be heard in the global struggle with the oppressive, misogynist, homophobic forces of Muslim fanatics. Click here to add your cyber- signature: https://www.irshadmanji.com/petition

Thanks Harry! You’re the man!
Reblogged this on dribblingpensioner.
What a terrific post Ed…you really are a champion
Thank you, but people like Irshad are the real champions even though she won’t get a phone call of support from a repulsive demagogue.
Empowered women… that’s the theme for this years Women’s Day!!!!
There you go! People like Irshad and Ayaan Hirsi Ali certainly count. They fight against a REAL war on women, not the artificial kind that America’s shallow media creates.
BRAVA!!!! I agree. I do not beleive men and women can be equal for we are built not to be equal.
This is one of that matters that really matter in the world. This is not some stupid thing of where a man gets called a caveman because he opens a door for a woman.
BRAVA!!!!
I can’t believe I found a man brave enough to take on Islam! You go!
Thanks! That’s nice of you!
I went and signed this too! So good to see someone like you who gives exposure to real women heroes like this and not publicity hounds like the fake American feminists.
Glad to hear it! I know exactly what you mean. People like Irshad deserve more exposure but the American Left likes to pretend only the anti-western voices of the Muslim world are authentic.

Remarkably courageous of you! I went and signed it!
Thank you very much!
Western so called feminists need to learn from these women.
I agree.
