END OF THE WORLD MYTH: CRISWELL PREDICTS

People who think we never landed on the moon and that the 9-11 attacks were staged by the U.S. government also think the world will end this December 21st. Balladeer’s Blog has been looking at previous end of the world scares.

This time around is a much lighter story than usual. Criswell, the phony psychic from the 1950’s is best known for his roles in Ed Wood movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space, Night of the Ghouls and Orgy of the Dead. His bizarre predictions, which were the schtick that first earned him spots as a crackpot guest on old talk shows and variety hours, have been mostly forgotten.

Criswell predicted a rash of cannibalism in the United States by the mid 1970’s and foresaw a day when the Supreme Court would be comprised entirely of women. To be fair, we still can’t judge the accuracy of that last prediction, since it may still come true someday. We can definitely laugh at Criswell’s odd premonition about the end of the world, which he saw occuring in the year 1999.

He stated that a “black rainbow” would form in the sky, a cosmic magnetic phenomenon would then suck all oxygen off the Earth and finally, the entire planet, littered with corpses from the lack of oxygen, would hurl into the sun. Good old Criswell was as accurate with that prediction as he was with most of his others.

  1. The Bible has given us much evidence that the Lord Jesus Christ may come for His people during the feast of Purim, which takes place March 7th, 8th, and 9th of 2012. Just a few days from now.

Esther 8:17 And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
