COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF GAMES FOR DECEMBER 10TH

The only down-side to Christmas drawing nearer is the fact that it means we’re down to fewer and fewer college football playoff games and Bowl games in the divisions covered by Balladeer’s  Blog. The NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) championship game, to be played between the defending champion CC Fighting Saints and the St Xavier University Cougars, won’t be until next Saturday, the 17th. Today we have 1 division’s championship game plus semifinal matchups in 2 others for a total of just 5 games for the day.

Last Saturday saw the crowning of the NJCAA Football Champions as the Arizona Western College Matadors fell to the East Mississippi Lions in the El Toro Bowl. A few Saturdays back the National Christian College Athletic Association’s football season came to an end with their signature event, the Victory Bowl, which saw the Campbellsville Tigers defeat the Greenville College Panthers.

Anyway, let’s all relish the few remaining games as the 2011 college football season approaches its end.

CCCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The Mount San Antonio College Mounties, the defending champions of CCCAA football, square off against the City College of San Francisco Rams today for the 2011 title. You can watch the game at 3:30 PM here: http://webcast50.com/site/pages/ect/ec_tourney.php?tourneyID=13

NCAA DIVISION 3 SEMI-FINALS

Will it be 7 years in a row that the D3 championship game features the Whitewater Warhawks (the defending champs) against the Mount Union Purple Raiders? Today’s semis will tell the tale. The unstable quarterback situation with the Purple Raiders might give the Wesley Wolverines their chance to at last break out of the shadow of the Big Two. Watch the game at 12 Noon by clicking here: http://d3football.com/links/60p896

NCAA DIVISION 2 SEMI-FINALS

D2’s Cinderellas, the Wayne State Warriors, take on the HBCU darlings, the Winston- Salem State Rams at 2pm. Click here to watch it: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/source/espn3/

Two of the coolest-named teams in D2 face off against each other in the other semi-final. The Delta State Statesmen take on the Pittsburg (KS) State Gorillas. The Statesmen won the D2 title in the year 2000 and made it to last year’s championship game before falling to Minnesota-Duluth. The Gorillas last made it to the title game in 2004 when they lost to Valdosta State. This will be the final game of the day and kicks off at 7PM.
