COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCOREBOARDS FOR NOVEMBER 5TH

DANGER: Cougar on the prowl

Don’t let the dazzling smile fool you! This is Dianne Zajdel, known to her coworkers as “The Queen of the Cougars”, even though she thinks the term is “Kruegers”. Dianne’s Official College Football Team, the St Xavier University Cougars are still ranked number one in the NAIA poll, and for the 2nd time this season they will square off against the number 2 team in those rankings. This time around the Marian University Knights are the team occupying the number 2 spot. SXU is still coached by Mike Feminis, and since his Cougars are on the road that means he’ll be showing a bad movie on the team bus, a habit of his revealed by his players last season in their interview with Balladeer’s Blog. The Marian Knights, meanwhile, have been making me look like a gridiron Nostradamus following my prediction before the 2010 (yes, 2010) season that they were about to explode in a big way. The Knights have been showing that last year’s playoff run was no fluke and have been even more impressive this year with their number 2 ranking the highest in the team’s history. Both Marian and SXU come into this pigskin Armageddon boasting 9-0 records. While some people are concentrating on some other 1 versus 2 matchup, just ask yourselves: What would Dianne watch? You can bet it will be the Knights and the  Kruegers, um, Cougars.

Other Top 25 NAIA teams colliding today: The number 8 William Penn Statesmen are visiting the 12th ranked St Ambrose Fighting Bees (love that name) and the 9th ranked Benedictine Ravens travel to face the number 25 Baker Wildcats. Meanwhile, Dickinson State Blue Hawks head coach Hank Biesiot, the NAIA’s Joe Paterno but without the apparent senility, is still looking to become the Association’s all- time wins leader. Today his team hosts their former Dakota Athletic Conference rivals, the South Dakota M&T Hardrockers. And let’s not forget the 3rd ranked CC Fighting Saints, the defending champions of NAIA football, who stand to gain from the SXU/ Marian game no matter who wins. The 8-1 CC boys once again put the “Hell” in Helena, MT as they host the struggling 2-7 Montana Tech Orediggers. Dianne, the honorary Lee Corso of Balladeer’s Blog, says she’s betting the Fighting Saints will play that game with one eye on the Cougars/ Knights score.  And now, links to updating scoreboards in the divisions of college football I cover:
