PIKEVILLE BEARS MEN AND AZUSA PACIFIC COUGARS WOMEN WIN NAIA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Pikeville College Bears, who last night defeated the 3rd- seeded Mountain State Cougars in overtime 83-76, were the story of the tournament on the men’s side. Anyone outside of Pikeville’s immediate fan base who says they had the Bears winning it all is just plain lying, period! Tournament MVP Trevor Setty led Pikeville with 32 points.

The Azusa Pacific Cougars women’s team won their first ever NAIA Division 1 National Championship in basketball last night by rallying from 5 points down in the final minutes to defeat the Union (TN) Lady Bulldogs 65-59. The Lady Bulldogs were the 2-time defending champs and went a tremendous 35-2 this season.
