February 8th, 1643 – The Parliamentarians repulse a dawn raid by the Royalists at Chagford. Among the Royalist casualties: the poet Sidney Godolphin, fatally wounded. He was buried at Okehampton on the 10th. He left behind some unfinished poems including The Passion Of Dido For Aeneas, which was later finished by Royalist conspirator Edmund Waller.
Very good idea to look at one of history’s less remembered conflicts.

How come you have it in for the Cavaliers!
Because I can’t stand hoity-toity, pompous, useless royalty and that’s who the Cavaliers were fighting for. Thanks for commenting!
