Basketball Both the men and women are making for a busy home game schedule this week. Tonight the women will play Hastings College at 7:00 p.m. The men host Central (NE) at 7:00 p.m. Thursday the women host a conference game vs. Mineral Area (MO) at 7:00 p.m. Saturday is a double header with the women playing conference game vs. Jefferson (MO) at 5:00 p.m. and the men having a conference game vs. Indian Hills at 7:00 p.m. The women are now 21-2 and ranked 13th in the NJCAA Poll.
Baseball Yes – Baseball!! The Reiver baseball team will open up its defending national championship season this week on the road vs. Seward County on Thursday & Friday and then games on Saturday & Sunday vs. Lamar (CO) and Garden City (KS) at Garden City.
Indoor Track & Field The Reivers traveled to Cornell College for the Hilltop Invitational Saturday. Abraham Lincoln Grad, Chelsea Colpitts bettered her national qualifying mark in the shot put moving it to 12.35m and finished fourth place, in the weight throw she showed great versatility tossing a 14.11m, earning her an IWCC record and another event to add to her national list. Denise Dawson baffled the competition in the long jump when she moved from fourth to first place in and set an IWCC record and earned a national qualifying mark of 5.45m. Molly Lebeda leaped 10.24m in the triple jump to add her name to the IWCC record books.
For the men, Ciaran Donnelly bettered his own IWCC record in the weight throw at 16.02m. Banjo Jaiyesimi and Troy Jones both earned second place finishes at the meet, and both bettered their national marks. Jaiyesimi ran a 50.06 400m, and Jones ran a 1:55.77 800m setting another IWCC record.
