SAFETY LAST – A Safety wound up being the last points scored by the winning team in this Quarterfinal playoff game in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). The MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS were on the road against the BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS but led 14-7 after 1 Quarter of play. At Halftime they led 28-21 and that remained the score as the 4th Quarter began. The Mustangs scored a Touchdown early in the 4th but botched the PAT, only to force the Wildcats into yielding a Safety later. Baker managed 7 points of their own to make the final score Mustangs 36 Wildcats 28.
DOUBLING UP – The UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS for this Quarterfinal clash. The Patriots were in control from the very beginning of this game, leading 7-0 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 21-7 at the Half.
