SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY RULES THE WORLD – Once again an NAIA football team has toppled a team from the NCAA Division TWO. For newbies this is like a 1AA team upsetting a 1A team. The NAIA’s SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE welcomed D2’s LIMESTONE COLLEGE SAINTS and proceeded to rough them up. In the end the Fire more than doubled up on the Saints, defeating them FORTY-FOUR to TWENTY!
NUMBER FOUR TAKES A FALL – The 25th ranked CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS managed their SECOND upset of a Top 5 team this season! The Tigers played host to the number 4 team in the nation – the FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES. The Senior Day spectators in C-Ville witnessed an Instant Classic of a game which at length ended in a 30-21 triumph for the home team.
HANGING EIGHTY-FOUR – Meanwhile, down at the two-year college level the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS put on an offensive clinic against their guests the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS. While the Red Ravens limited the Broncbusters to just 21 points they ran through the Garden City defense at will, winning the game by a final score of EIGHTY-FOUR to TWENTY-ONE.
HISTORY FOR GEORGE FOX – NCAA Division Three’s GEORGE FOX UNIVERSITY BRUINS are in just their first year of intercollegiate football and yesterday they notched their very first win in program history! This milestone came against the LEWIS & CLARK PIONEERS. A 16-6 Halftime lead ultimately became a 30-12 victory for the home team and Coach Chris Casey! Congratulations to the Bruins!

TOP TWENTY-FIVE UPSETS – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS dragged down the visiting (17) ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES in a 31-14 rout ### Meanwhile the REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES logged a 35-28 road upset of the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS ### And the CONCORDIA (NE) BULLDOGS toppled their guests, the (24) DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS 27-19.
RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (1) MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS clobbered the (7) NORTHWESTERN (IA) RED RAIDERS 42-24 ### The (3) Defending Champion GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS beat the (16) WILLIAM PENN STATESMEN 25-19 in their own house ### The (12) MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS beat the (20) BENEDICTINE RAVENS in a 23-17 nailbiter ### And the (14) OTTAWA UNIVERSITY BRAVES spanked the (18) FRIENDS FALCONS to the tune of 42-7.
ROAD WARRIORS – The NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES traveled to face the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS on Saturday and won a 37-30 Instant Classic ### And the (22) TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS notched a 20-14 road win over the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS.
VARYING DEGREES OF BLOWOUTS – The UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA- WESTERN BULLDOGS absolutely annihilated the homestanding MSU- NORTHERN LIGHTS to the tune of 60-15 ### And the LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILL LYNX manhandled the visiting BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS 38-17.
THE COOLER-NAMED TEAM WINS – That’s not a betting strategy, just an observation about how things went in these particular games. The SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES edged their guests the ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS in a 10-7 defensive epic ### And the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES won a 14-7 road game at the MCPHERSON BULLDOGS.
WORKING OVERTIME – The DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS cemented their turnaround season with yet another victory that few would have predicted in the pre-season. Yesterday the Blue Hawks squandered a late 14-6 lead over the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS, letting them tie it up at 14-all and forcing Overtime. In the extra session Dickinson State limited the Trojans to a Field Goal, then scored a Touchdown for a 20-17 win, improving to 6-4 so far in 2014.

TOP TWENTY-FIVE UPSETS – The MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES pulled off a brutal 28-12 upset of the visiting 22nd ranked ASHLAND UNIVERSITY EAGLES ### And the NEWBERRY COLLEGE WOLVES crushed their guests, the number 24 CARSON-NEWMAN EAGLES by a final score of 46-21.
SHUTOUTS – The FINDLAY UNIVERSITY OILERS managed a shutout – the most difficult trick of all in this era of rules that outrageously favor the offense. And they did it on the road no less, mangling the MALONE PIONEERS 38-0 ### And the MISSOURI WESTERN GRIFFONS blanked the visiting NEBRASKA- KEARNEY LOPERS 55-0.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS welcomed the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM and proceeded to win a thrilling 39-29 affair ### And the EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS pummeled and pounded the TEXAS A&M KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS to the tune of 61-7.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY RED RAIDERS held serve against the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS in a 37-32 game for the ages ### And the ASSUMPTION COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS managed a 28-21 road win over the STONEHILL COLLEGE SKYHAWKS.
THE MIGHT OF MILLERSVILLE – The MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY MARAUDERS took on the homestanding CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY WOLVES. The Marauders led 3-0 in the 1st Quarter and 20-6 by Halftime. In the end Millersville got off the schneid for 2014 with a 34-12 win.
“COMEBAAAAAAACK!” – Yes, it’s a Braveheart reference. The EDINBORO UNIVERSITY FIGHTING SCOTS started out trailing the visiting SETON HILL UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS 7-3 in the 1st Quarter. By Halftime the Fighting Scots had come back to take a 24-14 lead, but after the break had to hold on against the surging Griffins. In the end Edinboro won this nailbiter 31-27.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN CLASH – The ADAMS STATE GRIZZLIES hosted the FORT LEWIS COLLEGE SKYHAWKS on Saturday. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 23-7 Skyhawk lead by the break. In the 3rd Quarter the Grizzlies stormed back to make it a 23-20 game, then topped Fort Lewis in the end 34-30. RB Auston Hillman rushed for 168 yards and 3 Touchdowns.

HALF A HUNDRED – The CHOWAN UNIVERSITY HAWKS took the field against the visiting LINCOLN (PA) LIONS on Saturday. The Hawks at long last got off the schneid for 2014 and made for a happy Senior Day for their outgoing veterans. Chowan never trailed in this game and held a 22-7 Halftime advantage, ultimately winning the game by a tally of 50-20.
TRINITY OVER HASKELL – The TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS, the pride of Ellendale, North Dakota, clashed with the HASKELL INDIAN NATIONS UNIVERSITY INDIANS in a gridiron Armageddon. After a 4 Quarter game for the ages the Lions emerged with a 44-38 triumph.
EAGLES SOARING – The UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES were on the road against the IOWA WESLEYAN COLLEGE TIGERS. The Eagles barely broke a sweat in the game, leading 24-6 at the break enroute to a 34-12 victory. WR Raul Becerril had 122 receiving yards and a Touchdown for Northwestern, who improved to 8-2.
COMEBACK KIDS – The CATAWBA COLLEGE INDIANS started out trailing their guests the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS, who led the game 14-7 in the 1st Quarter and 17-14 at Halftime. After the break the Indians stormed back for a 28-17 victory to improve to 6-4 on the season. RB Cary Littlejohn rushed for 112 yards and a Touchdown in the win.
NAIA OVER NCCAA – Two NAIA teams defeated NCCAA teams in yesterday’s action. The UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS eked out a 20-17 road win over the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. ### And the EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS notched a Senior Day victory over the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS in a 20-14 Instant Classic.
COMPLETE THRASHINGS – The LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS folded, spindled and mutilated the homestanding BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS to the tune of SIXTY-NINE to TEN. ### And the UNIVERSITY OF WEST ALABAMA TIGERS spanked the MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE CHOCTAWS 41-28 in their own house.

KNIGHTS TRIUMPHANT – The SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS had a battle royal with their guests – the TEACHER’S COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY LIONS. The Knights trailed 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but by Halftime had charged back to make it a 1 point deficit at 14-13. The 3rd Quarter ended with Southern Virginia holding a 22-21 edge and after shutting out the Lions in the 4th the Knights emerged with a 28-21 triumph. QB Mitch Stevenson passed for 222 yards and 4 Touchdowns in the win.
MAULED BY THE BEARS – The WASHINGTON (MO) UNIVERSITY BEARS hosted the ALFRED STATE PIONEERS yesterday. The Bears were fully in charge in this game, leading 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 17-7 at Halftime on their way to a 47-19 beatdown of the Pioneers. QB J.J. Tomlin passed for 200 yards and 2 Touchdowns in the win.
A WHUPPING IN NEWPORT NEWS – The NAIA’s WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS traveled to take on the USCAA’s NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS. The Warriors didn’t let the Builders on the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter, dominating them all the way to a 31-6 blowout win. QB Billy Pavlock threw for 214 yds and rushed for 97 more for Webber.
PANTHERS VERSUS DRAGONS – The NCCAA’s KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE PANTHERS were on the road against the USCAA’s VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG DRAGONS. It was all Panthers all the time in this thorougly one-sided affair. In the end KWC won by a final tally of FIFTY-THREE to THIRTEEN!
ONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL, THE OTHER BASEBALL – NCAA Division Two’s DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY STATESMEN hosted the USCAA’s CONCORDIA (AL) COLLEGE HORNETS. It was no contest whatsoever as the Statesmen effortlessly cruised to a SEVENTY-THREE to SIX victory.

TOP FIFTEEN UPSETS – The (14) WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY TIGERS welcomed the (9) WABASH LITTLE GIANTS and squeezed out a 21-15 upset victory ### The (18) ST JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES absolutely mangled the (10) BETHEL (MN) ROYALS to the tune of 31-8 ### And the ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS secured a postseason berth with their 19-8 road upset of the (15) ST JOHN FISHER CARDINALS.
TOP TWENTY-FIVE UPSETS – Meanwhile the MORRISVILLE STATE MUSTANGS dragged down the homestanding 23rd ranked MONTCLAIR STATE RED HAWKS 38-20 ### And the PACIFIC UNIVERSITY BOXERS nearly doubled up on the visiting number 25 team – the WILLAMETTE UNIVERSITY BEARCATS – pounding them 41-24.
BIG RED ROLLING – The DENISON UNIVERSITY BIG RED took on the ALLEGHENY COLLEGE GATORS and completely crushed them. A 14-0 1st Quarter lead for the Big Red became 24-0 at the break and ultimately a 45-7 final score. Denison QB Brandon Sklenar passed for 406 yards and FIVE Touchdowns in the blowout victory.
DOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS came back from a 7-6 Halftime deficit to defeat the visiting GRINNELL COLLEGE PIONEERS 28-14 ### And the MACMURRAY HIGHLANDERS downed the MINNESOTA- MORRIS COUGARS to the tune of 14-7.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The COLBY COLLEGE WHITE MULES welcomed the BOWDOIN POLAR BEARS to Harold Alfond Stadium and turned a 6-0 Halftime lead into a 14-7 victory by game’s end. QB Gabe Harrington passed for 228 yards and 1 Touchdown. ### And the UNION DUTCHMEN crushed the visiting MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS to the tune of 59-32.
BULLETS AND BEALZEBUB – The GETTYSBURG COLLEGE BULLETS took it on the road against the DICKINSON COLLEGE RED DEVILS. A 10-7 1st Quarter lead for the Bullets became 23-17 by the break. In the 2nd Half Gettysburg College went on to win by a final score of 36-27. QB Zach Miller threw for 147 yds and 2 TD’s plus rushed for 93 more yds and another TD.
SMACKDOWN – The OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY POLAR BEARS played host to the WILMINGTON (OH) QUAKERS on Saturday. A 3-3 tie after 1 Quarter of play transformed into a 23-5 Polar Bear advantage at the Half. ONU led the Quakers 43-8 in the 3rd Quarter and ultimately won the game 50-15. QB Patrick Angle passed for 281 yards and 4 Touchdowns for the Polar Bears.
MIGHTY MORAVIAN – The MORAVIAN COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS were on the road against the JUNIATA COLLEGE EAGLES in a Centennial Conference brouhaha. The Greyhounds trailed 14-7 in the 1st Quarter but after a dominant 2nd Quarter they went into the break leading the game 21-14. When all was said and done Moravian improved to 5-4 with a 27-21 victory.
A PATCH OF BLUE – The MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY BIG BLUE took on the visiting ELMHURST COLLEGE BLUE JAYS on Saturday. After a scoreless opening Quarter the Big Blue held a 14-0 advantage at Halftime. That became a 21-7 lead by the start of the 4th Quarter and finally a 21-14 win for Millikin. QB Nick Pippin passed for 139 yards and 3 Touchdowns for the Big Blue.
THERE’S ALWAYS HOPE – The HOPE COLLEGE FLYING DUTCHMEN found themselves in a gridiron grudge match on Saturday with the TRINE UNIVERSITY THUNDER. Neither team scored in the 1st Quarter but at the Half the Flying Dutchmen led the Thunder 14-7. By the end of the 3rd Quarter Hope College clung to a 17-14 advantage and after an explosive 4th Quarter they had notched a 31-24 victory. WR Matt Kroll had 2 Touchdowns for the Flying Dutchmen on his 97 receiving yards.
CHAOS AT CRAIN FIELD – The RHODES COLLEGE LYNX welcomed the HENDRIX COLLEGE WARRIORS to Crain Field for what turned out to be one of the most riveting games of the day. After 1 Quarter of play the score was knotted up at 7-7 and at the Halftime mark the Lynx trailed the Warriors 17-14. That became a 23-14 hole to start the 4th Quarter during which Rhodes came from behind for a 27-23 triumph. RB Roc Sherrell rushed for 137 yards for the Lynx.
PIGSKIN DRAMA – The battle between the SEWANEE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH TIGERS and the visiting BERRY COLLEGE VIKINGS was filled with drama. The Tigers started out in control, leading 14-7 after the 1st Quarter and 28-17 at the break. The Vikings refused to say die, inching closer by the Quarter in the 2nd Half but Sewanee at last emerged with a 31-26 win. RB Devante Jones notched 194 rushing yards and 2 Touchdowns for the Tigers.

QUADRUPLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The 5th ranked HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS were less than hospitable hosts to the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES. The Blue Dragons smacked them down, quadrupling their offensive output in the process with a 24-6 victory.
MISSISSIPPI ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP – The 2nd ranked EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS kept alive their chances for a second consecutive National Championship by taking their conference again. The Lions once again eviscerated the number 10 COPIAH- LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK, this time by a score of 54-15.
NORTHEAST FOOTBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP – The title game in the Northeast Football Conference was played between the ASA COLLEGE AVENGERS, who were going for three conference championships in a row, and the number 7 NASSAU COLLEGE LIONS. The Lions hammered the Avengers to the tune of 48-20.
SOUTHWESTERN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP – The number 3 TRINITY VALLEY COLLEGE CARDINALS hosted the Championship Game in the Southwestern Football Conference yesterday. The Cardinals won easily, crushing their opponents the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES in a SEVENTY-THREE to FORTY-SIX affair.
VARYING DEGREES OF VICTORY – The MESA COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS doubled up on their guests the PIMA COLLEGE AZTECS, thumping them 34-17 ### And the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES took down the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS by a score of 40-28.
BLOWOUTS – The HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES drubbed the visiting DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS 38-13 ### And the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN took it on the road, squaring up on the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS 49-7.

NUMBER ONE TAKES A FALL – The 8th ranked BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS traveled to face the number 1 AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS. The Roadrunners trailed 7-3 after 1 Quarter of play, then beep-beeped ahead 17-14 by Halftime. After the break both teams exchanged blow for blow, with Butte College winning in a 31-28 upset.
BATTLE OF RANKED TEAMS – The (2) COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS did battle with the visiting (10) DIABLO VALLEY VIKINGS. A 31-14 Bulldogs lead at the break became a 50-21 blowout win for San Mateo. QB Justin Burgess passed for 239 yards and 2 Touchdowns in the victory.
TOP FIVE TEAMS ROLLING – The (3) RIVERSIDE TIGERS clobbered the homestanding CHAFFEY PANTHERS 49-21 ### Meanwhile the (4) SAN FRANCISCO RAMS logged a 67-17 beatdown of the DE ANZA DONS ### And the (5) MT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES sliced and diced the EL CAMINO WARRIORS 48-8.
