COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM OCTOBER 17TH AND 18TH

Washburn Ichabods helmetFOURTEEN AND FIFTEEN ROLL! – During Halloween season one of the things you think about is The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which makes you think of Ichabod Crane, which makes you think about the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS. The Ichabods are ranked number 14 in the nation and on Thursday night they crushed the visiting FORT VALLEY STATE WILDCATS 41-0   ###   And the 15th ranked OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS nearly doubled up on the FINDLAY OILERS, smashing them 41-21.

MercyhurstMASSACRE AT MERCYHURST – On Thursday night the MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS welcomed the GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS into their lair. This game too kept to the evening’s theme of teams playing incredibly lopsided affairs. Per the title of this segment Mercyhurst massacred their opponents in merciless (see what I did there) fashion, with the final score being Lakers 51  Golden Knights 21.

Itawamba College IndiansFINALLY A CLOSE GAME! – Thursday night did yield one close game, fortunately. The ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS won an Instant Classic against the visiting NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS. The Indians eked out a 36-33 win in this nailbiter   ###   And in the only other reasonably close game of the evening the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES defeated the HOLMES BULLDOGS by a score of 27-13.

east mississippiBLOWOUTS AND BUTTKICKINGS – The EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS, just two years past their most recent national championship, still know how to play dominant football! They took it on the road and  annihilated the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI RANGERS in a SEVENTY-NINE to SEVEN laugher   ###   And the JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS also notched an easy road win, lambasting the SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI BEARS 31-10.

* FRIDAY OCT 18TH *

Southwestern Oklahoma Bulldogs helmetSOUTH-SOMETHING, OKLAHOMA – The SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE BULLDOGS traveled to take on their directional rivals the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM. This was an edge-of-your- seat thriller which was tied up at 20-20 in the 3rd Quarter. The shootout was on from that point and when all the dust had settled in this clash of offensive dynamos the Savage Storm had fallen to the Bulldogs by a score of 37-27.

Whitewater WarhawksWHITEWATER WHITE WASH – The UW-WHITEWATER WARHAWKS, the only serious rival to Mt Union’s D3 football dynasty, are ranked number 10 in the nation now and last night played host to the UW-EAU CLAIRE BLUGOLDS. The Warhawks led 28-0 at Halftime, then extended that to a 42-0 final score. The Warhawks improve to 6-0 with this win while the hapless Blugolds fall to 0-6.

Johns Hopkins UniversityFORTY-TWO WAS A POPULAR NUMBER LAST NIGHT – The 15th ranked JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS welcomed their Centennial Conference rivals the DICKINSON RED DEVILS. The Blue Jays and Red Devils were knotted up at 7-7 after one Quarter of play, but Johns Hopkins opened up a 21-10 lead by Halftime. The Blue Jays continued to outclass the Red Devils in the 2nd Half, winning the game 42-17.

Delaware_Valley_PADEL-VAL ON THE ROAD – The DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE AGGIES had traveled to battle the FDU-FLORHAM DEVILS in what turned out to be a pretty riveting game. The Aggies led 14-3 at the end of Quarter number 1, but trailed the Devils 23-21 by Halftime. With 3 Quarters in the books Del Val had retaken the lead 32-30, then shutout the Devils in the 4th Quarter to win by a final score of 45-30.

MIT Engineers helmetFORTY-SOMETHING- Close games were extremely hard to come by in last night’s gridiron action. The MIT ENGINEERS eviscerated the visiting NICHOLS BISON by a score of FORTY-EIGHT to NOTHING. The Engineers led 21-zip at the end of the 1st Quarter and never looked back   ###   Meanwhile the SALVE REGINA SEAHAWKS took it on the road and totalled the CURRY COLLEGE COLONELS 43-10.

Butte CollegeBUTTE-KICKINGS – There were two games in CCCAA football last night. The BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS were at the SANTA ROSA BEAR CUBS in a game that seemed tight at first. The Roadrunners led just 7-0 after one Quarter, but amped that up to a 28-7 lead by the Half. The final score was Roadrunners 49  Bear Cubs 21   ###   And the LANEY COLLEGE EAGLES crushed the visiting WEST HILLS FALCONS 35-13.

  1. Go NAIA! NAIA football is much better since it doesn’t have the corrupt NCAA way of showing favoritism.

  2. These divisions seem fun! Less hype than D1.
