THE WEEK IN REIVERS NEWS

 Women’s Basketball  The Lady Reivers continue to rack up wins topping NIACC and Crowder (MO) last week and are now 20-1 and ranked 13th in the NJCAA Poll.  The Reiver’s will play two conference games this week; # 4 ranked State Fair on the road on Thursday and continue on the road to play Moberly on Saturday.

 Men’s Basketball   The Reiver men worked through three games last week topping Simpson College, and losing two close ones to Iowa Lakes and Southeastern.  The men’s game vs. State Fair (MO) to be played on Tuesday was cancelled due to weather.  Up next is a conference game at Marshalltown on Saturday, tip-off is at 7:00 p.m. Listen to the game on 89.7 The River.

 Indoor Track & Field   The men and women’s indoor track teams participated at the Minnesota State University Open this weekend.

For the multi-events athletes, Terry Anderson finished third overall with many strong events, including his 60m and 60m Hurdles.  His performance earned him the nation’s top qualifying spot for the heptathlon so far this season (4437), as well as another IWCC record.  Freshman Sam MacDonald finished 7th in the women’s pentathlon, with a 2933, nabbing her the nation’s number two spot.  MacDonald and teammate Denise Dawson had strong showings in the high jump, both qualifying in the event individually with a 1.55m. Dawson also etched in the nation’s third position in the pentathlon.

In the 60m hurdles, Catrell Butler broke his own IWCC record with an 8.27, bettering his national mark. Banjo Jaiyesimi posted a 50.12 in the 400m adding another event to his national list. Jamel Wood qualified for nationals in the 600m with a first place time of 1:22.55. In the 800m, Troy Jones grabbed another national spot with a 1:59.33. Kaylee Fly ran a terrific race in the 5000m, running a 19:08.25 earning her a national spot.
