GRENADIERS MEN’S BASKETBALL OPENS FIRE

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Indiana University Southeast men’s basketball tips off Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 7 p.m. against the St. Catharine College Patriots (Bardstown, Ky.) in the Southeast Activities Building.

The Grenadiers return three starters from last year’s 27-5 team that reached the Elite Eight of the NAIA Basketball tournament for the first time. Senior guard Jazzmarr Ferguson (Louisville, Ky.), who led the team with 15.1 points per game, returns to anchor the backcourt with senior guard Rick Bodiford (Louisville, Ky.).

The Grenadiers and Patriots played two close games last season with both games decided by a total of seven points. On December 1, 2009, IU Southeast edged St. Catharine 71-70 in overtime at the Southeast Activities Building. With four seconds left on the clock in overtime Ferguson pulled up and nailed a huge three-pointer to give the Grenadiers a one point lead. IU Southeast stole the final inbound pass to take the hard-earned victory. Then two weeks later on Dec. 16, the Grenadiers won 78-72 with Ferguson leading the way with 21 points on 7-11 shooting and Bodiford adding 18 points.

The Grenadiers are back in action this Friday and Saturday November 5 and 6 as they host the fourth annual Joe B and Denny Classic. Games start at 6 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday. IU Southeast will face Mid-Continent at 8 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.
