As everyone knows, one of the main points of playing a sport at a 2-year college is to get prepped to sign with a 4 year college. Maybe your grades or certain mechanics of the game could use some adjusting, but after your 2 year stay it is huge to get signed by a 4-year college team.
Just this year THIRTY-THREE Hutchinson College Blue Dragons signed with 4 year schools. Here are more details and player breakdown:
Between the early signing period in December and Wednesday’s traditional National Letter of Intent Day, 33 Hutchinson Community College football players signed letters of intent to move onto four-year programs.
Blue Dragon head coach Rion Rhoades released the list of Blue Dragons moving on Wednesday.
Of the 33 players, 16 have signed on at Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs. Four more signed on with Football Championship subdivision programs, seven more with NCAA Division II programs and six more with NAIA programs.
The group of 33 is the largest groups Rhoades has had sign in any single season.
The Blue Dragons had two Power-5 signees in defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt and linebacker Quen Head. Wyatt signed with Georgia and Head selected Louisville.
Through Rhoades’ first 11 seasons with the Blue Dragons, a total of 215 players have moved on to four-year programs, an average of 19.5 per season. Forty-eight players have moved onto Power 5 conferences and 56 more to other FBS programs.

Several years ago on a cross country trip with my brother in-law we made 2 stops in Kansas. First on the list was Benedictine in Atcheson and chatted with coach Wilcox. Brother in law is a Delaware Alum and the conversation surrounded Dave Nelson and Tubby Raymond, pas5 DE coaches. Wilcox is a very hospitable guy. Our next stop was Hutchison for an IMAX space movie and happened onto the college stadium, better than a lot of D-2 schools in the east. Love what you do for the little guys on the football scene.
After 58 years of bleeding green, how about those Eagles.
Thanks for sharing that story! Loved it! And certainly, congratulations to your Philadelphia Eagles!
Good for these guys! Great to see JUCO players do well!
I know how you feel!
Go Hutch!
Or “Go Hutch yourself!” I’m kidding! I know Hutch is what people call Hutchinson College for short.
My son should go play there.
I hope he gets to if he wants to!
My nephew played for Hutch!
That is good to hear.
I like your writing style really loving this web site.
Thank you.
