NCAA DIVISION TWO COLLEGE WORLD SERIES TEAMS FOR 2014

ATLANTIC REGION

SETON HILL UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS

2014 Record: 40-15

Story: The 3rd seeded Griffins defeated the top seeded Millersville University Marauders 3-0 in the title game for their first Regional championship. Other teams in the Region were the Mercyhurst Lakers, Kutztown Golden Bears, Shepherd Rams and Winston- Salem Rams.

SOUTH CENTRAL REGION

COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS

2014 Record: 44-11

Story: The top- seeded Mavericks needed two games to put away the 3 seeds – the Texas A&M at Kingsville Javelinas – by scores of 7-6 in the win and 9-8 in the loss. Other teams in the Region were the St Edwards Hilltoppers, New Mexico Highlands Cowboys, Tarleton State Texans and the West Texas A&M Buffaloes.

SOUTH REGION

UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS (Defending Champions)

2014 Record: 51-2 (!)

Story: The Spartans came into the Regionals as the top seed and won the title game with a 3-0 victory over the 4th seeded FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE MOCASSINS. Other teams in the Region were the Delta State Statesmen, Lynn University Fighting Knights, Alabama- Huntsville Chargers and the Stillman Tigers.

MIDWEST REGION

SOUTHERN INDIANA UNIVERSITY SCREAMING EAGLES

2014 Record: 44-12

Story: The top seeded Screaming Eagles doubled- up on the 3rd seeded Drury University Panthers by a score of 4-2 to take the championship of this Region. Other teams competing were the Indianapolis Greyhounds, Grand Valley State Lakers, Wayne State Warriors and Lake Erie Storm.

SOUTHEAST REGION

LANDER UNIVERSITY BEARCATS

2014 Record: 51-7

Story: In keeping with the theme of 1 seeds versus 3 seeds in the Regional title games this year the top seeded Lander University Bearcats faced the Columbus State University Cougars. The Bearcats won 5-2. Other teams in the Region were the South Carolina- Aiken Pacers, Mt Olive Warriors, Catawba Indians and the Georgia College Bobcats.

WEST REGION

CHICO STATE UNIVERSITY WILDCATS

2014 Record: 43-13

Story: The 2nd seeded Wildcats did battle with the top seeded University of California at San Diego Tritons for this Region’s crown. Chico State won a 3-1 thriller. Other teams in the Region were the California Baptist University Lancers, Dixie State Red Storm, Sonoma State Seawolves and the Cal Poly-Pomona Broncos.

CENTRAL REGION

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS

2014 Record: 45-9

Story: In the Central Region championship game the 3rd seeded Mavericks doubled- up on the Cinderella 4 seeds – the Emporia State University Hornets – by a score of 6-3. Other teams in the Region were the Arkansas Tech Wonderboys, Southern Arkansas Muleriders, AUM Boll Weevils and the Augustana Vikings.

EAST REGION

SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE SPARTANS

2014 Record: 38-16

Story: The 4th seeded Spartans needed two games to win their first ever Regional title. They defeated the 5th seeded Dowling College Golden Lions by scores of 4-2 and 3-0. Other teams in the Region were the Southern New Hampshire Penmen, Franklin Pierce Ravens, Wilmington Wildcats and the Felician Golden Falcons.
