Hello,
I read your blog and saw John Jay as one of the coolest names in D3. Good stuff!
Thanks for the kind words! If you enjoyed my blog feel free to tell your friends!
Gotta love the American Revolution. I teach fourth grade and really get into teaching this subject. Nice blog.
Thank you very much!
The “Moon Man?” Of which one do you refer to,
H.G. Wells moon man or Phil MyCrackin and his guide to professional Plumbing?
Well, actually neither. You know how my official slogan here at Balladeer’s Blog is “Singing the praises of those things that slip through the cultural cracks”? Well it’s the same thing with my taste in old pulp heroes. Most people fixate on the obvious ones like The Shadow and Doc Savage. I go for Frederick C Davis’ character The Moon Man. He was an urban Robin Hood in the 1930′s robbing from blue-collar criminals and wealthy white-collar criminals and giving to the Great Depression-ravaged poor. This meant he was on the run from both the cops and the crooks just like the Green Hornet. There were 38 Moon Man stories written by Davis(his real name, incidentally, not a house pseudonym) in the 1930′s. I’ll be doing a whole page on the pulp heroes I refer to above similar to my Navajo Myth and Bunyoro Myth pages. Thanks for commenting!
Why don’t I meet guys with your kind of interests in real life?
LOL I don’t know! Thanks for commenting!
This is such an educational and irreverent blog! I really love your look at Liberals and Conservatives!
Thanks! I’m glad you like it! !!
What is that pic? Lexington? Concord?
I’m afraid I don’t know. It was one of the options that came up and I liked it so I went with it. It is called “Mistylook” but I don’t know the locale. Thanks for stopping by!
I love learning about all these teams here! Nobody even knew they existed!
Thanks for commenting like this!
Ah, silent movies. I dated a girl once who had never seen a silent movie. I own over half of the 88 movies Chaplin made in his lifetime, and we sat down to watch some.
She asked me when they would start talking.
We didn’t last long.
It’s a lost art; one which took an enormous amount of talent and panache.
Ha, I can see why. When she asked when they start talking you should have replied “Not until 1927.” Thanks for the comment! Hope you found some entertaining stuff here.
Love this site! I can’t believe these schools actually exist! You rock!!!!
Thanks and thank you for stopping by!
Wow! I didn’t know you were out there. This is very interesting and enjoyable. I am from BYU-Hawaii (we were listed on the Top 20 D-2 names.
One thought. Since we have won 2 NAIA and 9 NCAA Tennis Championships and have never made it anywhere with either soccer program maybe you could list tennis as a major sport instead of soccer.
Thank you for the comment! I went ahead and put tennis in the first spot as your major sports. I kept soccer on there since soccer is international and I’m getting positive feedback from outside the U.S. about always listing soccer as a major sport.
Hi, nice to meet you !
Same here.
I can respect someone who writes about teams that you actually have to do some research on and not just watch Sportscenter. Keep up the good work! If you happen to like fantasy football, check out my blog http://www.oneextrayard.wordpress.com .
Thanks for the kind words! I’m on my way to your blog now where I’ll leave a comment!
Would you like to trade links? You can write a description for your blog and I’ll write one for mine. Can’t hurt to get cross traffic!
Sounds good to me. I sent a more detailed reply to your e-mail address.
You need to do more mythology pages.
Great post. Rockin’ on these teams!
Thanks!
balladeer thanks for taking me up on the link exchange, your blog, and short summary of your blog has now been added to my page
http://wingstruck.wordpress.com/blogging-friends/
thanks, and if you wish for me to edit, feel free to contact me
Thank you! You’re much more polite on the Showcase forum than so many other people here.
Thanks for the film Recommendation
You’re more than welcome!
Awesome. Bad movies and less mainstream mythologies.
Excellent topics.
Thanks a lot and thanks for the comment!
I have a serious love for bad movies, especially of the sci-fi and horror genres. My recommendation for you is Asylum of Satan. I think you would appreciate it!!
I love Asylum of Satan and all of Girdler’s other films! The Louisville touches always make his films stand out. Thanks for commenting!
I love all your exotic interests. It should be fun seeing you add pages covering them all.
Thank you for this comment!!!
Hi, thank you for the comment we are looking for reviews on books and from what I can see on your about page, you read quite educational and interesting books! Could you email me and I can email you some details.
Thank you much
Regards
Chelsea
Thanks for the reply! I just e-mailed you. Hope to hear from you.
Love ur blog and all the subjects u write about! I also love the way u cut Time Thief down on the forums! More people need to stand up to that jerk the way u do!
Thanks! LOL She is such a pompous and condescending fool! She’s lucky most people are too polite to give her the treatment she deserves.
LOL! Is she a moderator? Is this why she’s EVERYWHERE? Though your subject matter really isn’t my thing, I do appreciate good writing. My husband and son are history and mythology buffs so I’ll be sure to share the link. Loved the Lebron post and will continue to share posts I love via FB and Twitter. Thanks. BTW found your blog on the newbie thread over on the forum. Hope you subscribe to my blog as well.
LOL No, she’s NOT a moderator, that’s why she’s so annoying. She tries to hijack every thread and turn it into a commercial for her own blog, yet she thinks she’s fit to police everybody else’s actions. I really ripped her to pieces in the forums months ago and from the e-mails and comments I got people who are too non-confrontational to stand up to her LOVED it.
When I want blogging tips I just search online under “tips on blogging”. I certainly never go to her. By the way, she has admitted she is not even a full-time, professional blogger, so I don’t get her pompous attitude. I was already at you blog but I think my comment may have gone to your spam folder. I’ll be back!
She’s NOT a moderator? Omg, I thought she was since she was everywhere. Anyway, I looked at the list of BAD MOVIES and am sad to say that I have never seen any of them. I feel deprived. Am very curious about The Lift and will have to Netflix it
Great, Navy Wife! I hope you enjoy The Lift! Sara often says she can’t find the movies I review on Netflix but hopefully you’ll have better luck trying to locate it.
Greetings!
After seeing the “balladeer blog” floating around the WordPress community and finding your recent comment on one of my own posts, I knew it was time to reciprocate.
I have a particular interest in Native American history and sifted through your writing on Navajo Mythology. The material is a masterpiece of fascinating and enlightening data and simply adds more fuel to my mild and light-hearted fantasy of living as one with nature in the company of an ancient Native American Tribe.
Best Regards!
Thanks for stopping by and for the very nice comment! I’m glad you liked my Navajo myth page. My source books are listed at the bottom of that page if you’re looking for good reading material on the topic.
I’ve just given you an award, Ed. You can pick it up at my blog. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for that award, Didi! I left a longer reply at your blog. You and George are great!
hey Baladeer, I just suscribed to a new blog I saw in the showcase. it might be something you like as well. Blog is called “Historic news.’
anyhow, I thought of you because it looks like its not gonna be run of the mill history blog. ,Sara
Thank you very much for telling me about it! I’m on my way there to check it out!
Thanks for stopping by our blog! We’d love to send a photo of Gus in for your commentary. Hopefully a few of our readers will see your comment too!
Thank you so much! Just go ahead and e-mail me the photo!
Man…this blog is a Motherlode of material !! I am quite impressed by the range of interests and the depth of your analysis…and I’ve only read a tiny % of it…will be back often.
Thanks and thanks for the comment!
Obviously a renissance man (or person – I’m presuming you’re male)
LOL Yeah, I’m a man. Thank you so much for commenting!
Hey there, I just added your blog to my blog buddy list
Thank you very much! I’ll add you right now!
Cool blog. You have a lot of information. I’m interested in mythology yet don’t know too much about it. When I have some time I’ll have to check out more!
Thanks! If you do I hope you like what you read!
Your interest in Presidential History, The American Revolution etc really struck a chord with me.
As a girl growing up in the U.K, I showered myself in books about the history of America and the development of the country’s history – something that was rather self taught as we tend to conver more British and European history in schools here. At University, I then studied History where I chose a much more American focus.
What I wanted to say was that I share much of your interests in such History so if you ever hear of any good new books out on these topics, would you be kind enough to share recommendations.
On that note, have you read the hemingses of monticello – fantastic read.
Thank you very much for stopping by! I’ll be glad to pass along any recommendations! I haven’t read The Hemingses of Monticello, but I’ll look for it now.
I have a fondness for some of your country’s history, too, especially the English Civil War(s) of the 1640′s.
I gave you an award – http://ungabungagirl.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/you-cant-blog-in-a-bubble/
THanks very much!!!!!!!!!
ur blog rocks! love the bad movies and the myths. i think everybody is loving u because of the way u always stand up to that obnoxious time thief. she is so mean spirited to everybody.
Thanks a lot! I know what you mean about Time Thief! She is so incredibly pompous and tries to act like she knows so much but is so full of it! Remember when she was still pushing Alexa and then somebody who actually knows what they are talking about pointed out that Alexa is often months out of date? She is such a joke!
PLEASE KEEP MAKING A FOOL OUT OF TIME THIEF IN THE FORUMS! YOU ARE EVERYBODY’S HERO! I used all caps on purpose there.
Ha! Thanks! And actually she does an amazing job of making a fool of herself all alone. And, yeah, I hear from people almost on a daily basis when they find a thread where I point out how full of it Time Thief is. Most of them e-mail me. They all seem fed up with her invading every thread and trying to turn it into a commercial for her own blog.
hi! currently I am engaging myself to finish my manga. my manga “dioses” is about mythology and while surfing the net researching mythology, I “accidentally” found your site. browsing through it i found out that it is very interesting and offers lots (i mean LOTS) of cool stuffs, from mythology down to movies! now it only proves that accidents don’t happen!
keep up the goodwork!
Thank you very much! Good luck with your manga! Thank you for this very nice comment.
HI balladeer, you are right, football or soccor as you call it
is the only international team game there is that’s played all over the world.
How is the American team shaping up for the next international match’s and the world cup.
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I don’t know about the American team’s chances. I mostly follow college soccer because of the universities I cover.
ur blog covers some fun and funny things … everyone talks about how you cut that rude and mean time thief down all the time … lol… nice job …
Ha! So many people feel that way – I get e-mails all the time from people, too, laughing about how I compare her to the Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons, etc. I don’t know why they don’t do it themselves, too. She is not a moderator and has no official position at wordpress, she’s just another rude keyboard jerk with outdated advice.
Awesome blog, Balladeer! Anything rare is right here!
Thank you very much, Mighty Jimmy!
This blog has so much fun stuff! And I agree with what everybody else says about Time Thief! She is so rude and unprofessional and I’m so sick of her spamming every thread and trying to hijack it.
I’m glad you think my blog has fun stuff! Thanks!
And yeah, I get e-mails and comments all the time about frantic, emotionally unstable behavior we often see. Many of them come from people who say they would have become paying customers for WordPress if not for how rudely Time Thief/Comic Book Guy treats people in the forums. It makes sense. If people are paying money they deserve better than to have to deal with a nasty troll and spammer in every thread in the forums.
Can’t get over the variety of subects you cover, Balladeer, but they all make sense together the way you write about them.
Thanks! I try to make it all interesting.
Hi just nominated you for the VERSATILE BLOGGER AWARD.You deserve it! Link : http://sparkylaurie.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/life-is-full-of-surprises-versatile-blogger-nomination/
Cheers,

Well ,thank you so much! That is very kind of you! I will be by to see what I do to participate ASAP.
Fantastic site you have here! Are you married?
Thank you! No, I’m not married.
[...] Balladeer’s Blog: an obscure man with a taste in the weirdest things (like American college football which to begin with I know nothing about other than they wear too much padding)… but his myth posts actually help me from time to time with my lessons at school, and at the moment Scrooge; “Time for another post in Balladeer’s Blog annual orgy of entries on various versions of THE Christmas tale.” [...]
I love how eclectic this blog is! Hawaiian myths are my favorite so far!
Thank you very much , !
Great blog here and you are a legend in blogging circles for always telling a certain ass what you think of her! Happy blogging! Comment comment comment! Oh, I just remembered I’m really ill today.
LMAO Thanks! The only thing you forgot was to suddenly “remember” that you’re having trouble seeing today. Take care! You should see the emails I get from people saying how much they can’t stand her.
