And the 2017 postseason is underway in college basketball! Here are last night’s results from the four games in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

calumetcollegecrimsonwaveathleticsINSTANT CLASSIC – The tightest game of the night was played between the 3rd seeded CALUMET COLLEGE CRIMSON WAVE and the 6 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS. Despite a pitiful night from the Foul Line (Just 56.5 percent!) the Crimson Wave still managed to win this hardcourt epic 84-82. Damonte Lowery tossed in 21 points and had 6 rebounds for Calumet College, while his teammate Darrick Scott notched a Double Double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Olivet Nazarene logoCATFIGHT – This game pitted the 4 seeds – the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS – against the 5th seeded SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS. After an action-packed First Half the Tigers trailed the Cougars by a score of 51-46. Following the break Olivet Nazarene’s defense virtually shut down SXU while adding 45 more points of their own for a 91-77 triumph. Nic Reed led the way with 30 points and 9 rebounds followed by Tyler Crater’s 25 points and 6 boards.

Robert Morris Eagles logoONE OVER EIGHT – Like ONU, the top seeded ROBERT MORRIS (IL) UNIVERSITY EAGLES trailed at the Half, in their case 42-40 t0 the 8th seeded HOLY CROSS COLLEGE SAINTS. Similarly the 2nd Half saw the Eagles keep the Saints under 30 points as Robert Morris U defeated Holy Cross College by a final tally of 84-70. Darius Randolph was the biggest star of the night for the Eagles, racking up FORTY points and 12 rebounds for a very authoritative Double Double.

The Trojans were in control by Halftime, holding a FIFTY-SEVEN to THIRTY lead over the Pride. From there Trinity International coasted to a Century Club-level 102-72 triumph. This was a true team effort, with all but one member of the Trojans putting up points. With offense that evenly spread around, Jeremy Carlyle’s 16 points led the team.
