CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS END THE YEAR RANKED AT 19

The NAIA Football Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll has been released by the national office and the University of the Cumberlands football team ended the year with a final ranking of 19th.

This season was different from years past as the Patriots took on the obstacle of competing in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Western Division for the first time but still Cumberlands was able to dominate the competition.

The Patriots ended the year with a 7-4 overall record and 5-1 in MSC West Division play.  The Patriots football team was able to win a 4th straight MSC Conference Championship after having won the previous three in the MSC East Division.  With that accomplishment the Patriots became the first team to win a Divisional championship in the East and West.  Also, the Patriots headed back to the Playoffs for a fourth straight season as they traveled to Chicago, IL to take on Saint Xavier University in the first round.  After a tough battle Cumberlands came up short of making it to the next round.

There are high hopes for the 2011 University of the Cumberlands football team as they set out for their fifth straight MSC Conference Divisional Championship.  For more information on the football program and Patriot athletics visit www.cumberlandspatriots.com.

  1. Good to hear it! Their football teams are always underappreciated.
